‘But Peter, who was very naughty…’
Every year I look forward to Fenwick’s Christmas windows in Newcastle-on-Tyne. Rarely do they disappoint. This year they celebrate 150 years of Beatrix Potter. What could be finer? Come window gazing with me.
What would life be without Jemima Puddle-duck? Or handsome Jeremy Fisher?
We all have our favourites. These cats look rather mean to me but the details are simply delicious.
And I can almost hear the squeaks of those tailoring mice. Every year the Anticipation is the same, and every year they deliver. I hope you won’t be disappointed. Let’s put Peter to bed, shall we?
Share your six words this Saturday, and have a happy weekend.

This brings back some wonderful Christmas memories. Thanks, Jo.

So adorable, Jo. Thanks for introducing these new to me characters. It is nice to lose yourself outside of reality once in a while. 🙂 Have a fantastic weekend!

Well done getting the various scenes without reflections! The children must love the three dimensional aspect. I came to Beatrix Potter as an adult, and love her watercolour illustrations more than her stories. Was there any recognition of her painting in the display?

Hi Bunty 🙂 The display was just based on her books and the kids seemed to love it. I don’t know much about her painting myself.

All the illustrations in her books are her watercolours.

Such a charming window display- old fashioned in a delightful way! There was such an innocence to these books for children.

Peter Rabbit! The display is so intricate and you did a fantastic job photographing them, Jo. Were they behind glass or was it an open-aired display? I really like how the doll house has cushions down the stairs. It makes me think some of those dolls get cheeky and like to slide down the stairs when no one is looking 😉 Such an apt shot to finish off the post ❤

They’re behind glass Mabel so not easy to get shots without reflections and dodging all the kids. After all the display is for them xx

What a lovely reminder of two pasts: Beatrix Potter and Christmas dioramas. Now I’ve seen some in New York and Newcastle-on-Tyne. Haven’t spotted any in Warsaw. Lovely photos and your title is superb. Hugs wrapped in window condensation for the weekend.
