Didn’t we have a lovely time….
…the day we went to Edinburgh.
Sing along!
I’ve tried to give you a feel for our day together but it can’t show the laughter and the smiles. Â We saw the castle, from afar, wandered a bit, found the National Museum of Scotland, and even had time for a trip to the Botanic Gardens. Â Jude is quite a private person and refused to sit on that bench for a photo, but we agreed it was a splendid bench. Â I pinched a discreet shot and I hope she’ll forgive me.
We found the roof terrace of Harvey Nicholls for a celebratory cocktail (thanks, Debs!), moseyed around the corner to an Apothecary Garden that Jude will tell you all about, and ended with a meal in the mezzanine restaurant of the Guildford Arms. Â Then somebody blew the whistle and we had to scurry along the platform of Waverley Station. Â Last swift hugs, and it was over!
Jude is still there, enjoying the sunshine, but I expect you’ll hear more when she returns from the Borders next weekend. Â I’ve still got the swollen hoof so no zumba today, but I did enjoy the reminiscing. Â Don’t suppose you’ll be surprised that it’s an Edinburgh walk next Monday. Â Have a great weekend and I’ll see you then. Â Six words?

How wonderful that the two of you met!! Truly my favourite thing about blogging is these connections.

They are pretty darn amazing, aren’t they, Sue? I keep stamping my foot and threatening to leave, but as I said to Jude, I love the applause and the hugs. 🙂

I guessed most of those but don’t know the Apothecary’s Garden. Will have to look out for that next time we’re over. I see you were watching the tennis – we were at the matches yesterday (clever John won tickets) and it was so depressing I couldn’t bear to watch any more! Poor Andy looked exhausted from the beginning. Still, I saw we had salvaged something today so fingers crossed for a miracle tomorrow.

We just need to win 2 matches 🙂 🙂 It was only small but had interesting information about the plants. Jude had done the medicinal garden tour at Alnwick too, so I’m hoping that might turn up as a future walk. 🙂 Happy Sunday!

Who needs word counts?! Love the photos and wow, super packed day. You deserved those cocktails – they look delicious. Look forward to your walk and I’ll join if you don’t mind as Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities which I visited often whilst at university of St. Andrews. Glad you had a great time. Happy relaxing weekend, Jo. 😀

This was one of my best visits, Annika. It started in thick fog so when the sun materialised it was a real treat. 🙂 I will be doing part of the Water of Leith- I reckon 13 miles is a little much, even for me. 🙂 You’ll be very welcome. Not much relaxing… enjoy yours! 🙂

A lazy lump!!! She’ll hear you, then you’ll be in trouble 🙂 Ahh this sounds lovely and what’s this I hear about the west country? I knew you’d have no chance of a photo of Jude, she’s worse than me. Still, I think I’d recognise her from the geranium shot 😉
I’ve really only spent a few hours in Edinburgh and with my grumpy ex, I’ll go again one day if Scotland promises no rain, you were very lucky after the misty train ride. Hope your ankle gets better, are you resting it now? Big hugs and enjoy the rest of your weekend x:-)x

She knows it’s an affectionate lazy lump 🙂 🙂 Probably! She was back at the hotel by 3 today. I rest my case 🙂 Jude mentioned Bath a time or two. Another long walk! No wonder the ankle aches. I was in the garden for some of the day, resting it. Full speed ahead now though 🙂 Did the show go well? Hugs, darlin!

I like that last shot and what wonderful reminders of an exceptional day. After the fog of the last couple of days I was a little worried that we’d have to stick to the museums so what a delight that the sun shone for us …and still is shining! I think you got the better cocktail. And if I’d known you were doing the laundry today I’d have given you all mine 😀
Next time – the south-west!

Another page in the ‘diary’, Jude, and a good one. 🙂 I wrote it up on the way home. James has just arrived and my washer can’t cope! You’ll have to drop yours off on the way back.
Cracking match this!

Hi Jo,
Tjat looks like a great day, with perfect weather at that. When my wife and I were there, we enjoyed Edinburgh, the surroundings amd the Highlands a lot. Hopefully we’ll be able to go back some time.

What fun you both had . . . . .fabulous photographs and thanks for the great tip about the place to go for cocktails. MrB wants to try and fit in an Edinburgh trip before we disappear back to the Algarve, so if we make it I know where to go now for the celebratory drink 🙂

We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside in the sunshine, Becky. I doubt that’ll last much longer. 🙂 Debbie (Travel with Intent) knows Edinburgh well so you could ask for some ideas. Or Smidge of course (I love Edinburgh), who lives there! 🙂 🙂 It’s a fabulous city.
Happy Saturday to you!

Edinburgh looks spectacular through your lens, Jo. From the photo and what you recounted, sounds like you covered a lot of ground with Jude. That cocktail martini looks like a delicious strawberry milkshake. Maybe it tasted like one, haha. It is a very pretty drink 🙂
Take care of your swollen leg and get better soon. Sometimes I do get painful legs when I hike around all day – usually because I’m overly eager to cover too much ground 😀

I’ve been eagerly waiting for this! I love your Edinburgh and Jude’s. I too stole her image photographing orchids. What a place for a cocktail. Your flower shots are great. I’m looking forward to Monday’s walk. A hug or two wending your way. I didn’t use them all up on Franki after all!

I haven’t seen anything of Jude’s on Edinburgh yet, Meg. I have so much catch up you wouldn’t believe and I’ve just spent the last hour or two lazing in the garden. 🙂 This sunny spell won’t last and I shall be engulfed in laundry very soon. Jude might like Monday’s walk too because it’s a bit of Edinburgh she hasn’t seen. It really is the most beautiful city and I was bubbling over with excitement. I wouldn’t care if you only spoke in sign language so long as you visited, hon. 🙂 Hugs to last the weekend!
