Yorkshire just keeps on having fun!
Making the very most of a fine spell of weather, I’ve been out and about lots this week. And look what I found! You may remember that Saltburn-by-the-Sea loves its yarn bombing. They’ve been at it again! Everything from Yorkshire lavender to Geoffrey Boycott.
They’re an endearing bunch of characters. You might even recognise the odd one. Click on the galleries for a closer look.
And you’ll not go short of a bite to eat, or drink. Tea, or something stronger?
Got to feed the workers and keep their strength up. Good old Yorkshire values.
There’s even a little architecture to admire.
Naturally, some people just want to play, and who can blame them?
It all adds up to pride in …
I told you it was fun! Great while it lasted but I think it’s going to be wet this weekend. Never mind. We can still smile.
Hope you have a good one. And don’t forget to pop in on Cate with your six words.

my favorite is the we little red sweater…have a lovely day!

Where’s the ‘love button’? What fun they are, ,my favourite would have to be the sailor as my son used to have a uniform like that, but the lavender and heart and the sheep leading to the sheep jumper are sweet. I have total respect fro the people who knit these, I can knit but wouldn’t have the patience for all the fiddle bits!
Happy weekend sweetheart, may the sun keep shining on you, now where did that last week go?

I like your sailor boy too, Gilly. 🙂 In the middle of a shower right now but they come and they go. What you up to this weekend? Sounding a bit wild out there.

Brilliant! Sounds like you’ve had a wonderful week Jo. Shame the weather has changed now. I’m wading through the puddles in Edinburgh at the moment!
This yarn bombing is a MUST see for me. Next year I’m going to try to get organised and see more of these smaller events.

Glad I’m not in Edinburgh yet then, Debs. We’ve had a couple of showers but it’s more windy than anything. I even had breakfast in the garden. Us hardy northerners 🙂 🙂

I like these. I was in Yorkshire recently, on Yorkshire Day. In Leyburn shops were giving away white roses and heather!

What a nice idea! Can’t say Yorkshiremen are tight, Andrew! 🙂 We passed through Leyburn on our way back from Skipton last weekend. Always busy! We’ll have to stop chasing each other around like this! 🙂

I was surprised just how busy everywhere was Jo. Leyburn of course but especially Hawes – too busy to be comfortable. I was staying near Middleham and that was a little quieter!

Middleham’s lovely. Nice castle too. I haven’t been to Hawes for years. Due a visit after the school hols. 🙂

Being a Leicester boy I enjoyed Middleham and the association with Richard III.

These are the cutest things. Beautiful and original work, right at the beach. “There is so much to see and do where Jo lives,” I just told my husband. “There is a lot to do everywhere, except here in Heath,” he replied. That being said, Heath’s biggest – and only? – event of the year is this weekend: the Heath Fair. Of course, we are going! 🙂

Fabulous, but aren’t you going to tell us who knitted these? And placed them on the beach to be photographed.

It’s a yearly event, Maris. Many of the figures have tags on so you can read the details if you have a smart phone. I was too busy smiling and taking photos. 🙂

It’s a mixed bag of a forecast. Windy with the odd heavy shower. I dodged in the library after zumba and missed one. 🙂 Fingers crossed!

Makes me a bit nostalgic reading all the Yorkshire dialect – not that I speak it of course – my mother would have had a fit! You can take the girl out of Yorkshire but you can’t take Yorkshire out of the girl 😉

Absolutely, it is so cute. I just heard from a house in a neighbouring village that they knitted Olympic bits in their garden. I need to visit that too. They say they want to bring the awe in awesomeness. So sweet.
