Six word Saturday

Good time on a grey day

The sun doesn’t have to shine to make me happy.  Being with people I love in a beautiful place does the trick too.  Thursday had me slip-sliding about at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (in the wrong shoes, again!)  But it was worth it when I found the rhododendrons in full flower in the woods.

I will be taking you there on one of my Monday walks, but I just had to share this beauty.  I half wondered if it would qualify as a wildflower for Jude’s Garden Challenge.  Then I decided it didn’t really matter.  She’ll love it anyway.

Happy Bank Holiday weekend to all you Brits!  Hope you find some sunshine somewhere.  Cate is having problems at Six Word Saturday.

  2. Our rhodies are out as well Jo, and it’s a beautiful time of year here. In addition, this is a long weekend in the US (Memorial Day), so there will be lots of sunburns at the office on Tuesday. Happy Bank Holiday. ~James

    1. Funnily enough it is sunny! I wasn’t expecting it to be, after a dismal couple of days, but it always keeps you guessing here, doesn’t it? Continuing my Polish series on Monday, Becky, but I’ll get to YSP eventually 🙂 Have a lovely weekend!

  4. Now you must tell me what a Bank Holiday is.
The flower is so delicate and fragile looking. I have no doubt Jude will love it. Careful with that slip sliding my friend. Xo

  5. It can seem like a wild flower as it does seem to roam freely, and who care, as you rightly said I love it anyway! Yorkshire Sculpture garden? Is that the one in Wakefield? My home town. Haven’t been back for years other than to my brother’s funeral a few years ago and that doesn’t really count. I shall look forward to the walk on Monday if I get a chance to join you!

    1. Busy weekend, or watching tennis? Yes- it’s my first visit and I’ve wanted to go for years. James wanted to see the KAWS exhibition, but I’m not crazy about them. Polish walk on Monday. I’ll start without you 🙂 🙂 Have a happy one!

      1. Gonna be difficult watching the tennis, but maybe I will catch Murray playing again! At least there won’t be anyone here during Wimbledon – now that fortnight is not to be interfered with 😀

      2. I’m in the Algarve without TV/Wifi for the last 4 days. I did think it was tragic, but with the Rafa news I’m not so sure. I would love Murray to win the French though. 🙂

  6. They are a beautiful flower sure enough but many places consider them a nuisance as they are so invasive. In Nottingham there is a controlled programme of clearance in Woolaton Park to allow space for natural species that are being choked out!
