Niestety, mówię tylko troche po polsku
“Unfortunately, I speak only a little Polish” but the language of cake is universal. Staying in the home of a baker could be ruination for the figure, so it’s probably as well I came home when I did. Chmurka malinowa (raspberries and meringue) was my undoing. Sadly, after 2 weeks in Poland I was just starting to get my head around the language and have the confidence to try to speak it.
The photos above are from my cousin Adam’s newest shop, and Dad is there with the family, waiting to sample ciastko- cake. Something which he is extremely good at. Must be a family trait! The last is taken through the shop window. My lovely niece Ula has just finished work for the day.
One of my weeks was spent with family in Central Poland, where feeding one week old ducklings- kaczki– was part of the entertainment. I was also lucky enough to meet up with Meg in the city of Łódź. Such joy that gave me. I’ll be taking her along on my Monday walk next week. Come with us, but don’t expect to get a word in, will you?
Meanwhile, have a great weekend! Pop in on Cate if you have six words you want to share.

Looks so delicious! A walk in Poland is great! I am also planning to visit this country soon! Happy weekend!

Yum yum yum. I need to join you on that Monday walk in Poland to get rid of the extra pounds (figuratively and literally, since I – ahum – gained quite a few in the tasty land of chocolate and favorite diary products…)

It’s a very flat walk, Liesbet, and there are temptations too. Sorry 😦 I’ll try to find something more testing next time. 🙂

I love flat walks. My ex, who was also from the US, called me a “flat lander”. I try to do one a day with my mom while in Belgium. Much more enjoyable – laziness wise – than the hills in New England! I don’t sigh and I don’t procrastinate to get out and move this way, either. 🙂

Lovely photos of the cake shop all round. Looks like your cousin’s shop has a lot of cakes too, and I’m sure there is a cake for everyone who walks through the door 😀 I agree with you that cake is a universal world – it is such a treat and a good feeling when we all get to eat cake 🙂

I’m not a big cake eater at home, but it’s impossible not to be in Poland, Mabel. Thanks for your lovely comment. 🙂

What a cake shop. Where did you put it all? You’re slender as. You managed Polish nicely in Łódź: it inspired me to be a bit more daring – or at least to think about it! You wee right to warn your Monday walkers that they mightn’t get a word in.

I have a feeling Jude would manage to get her oar in, Meg, but the others would struggle. 🙂 🙂 I am going to try to keep my Polish going this time, but I have said that before. 😦
Thanks for beating me to it, hon. I will respond this evening- promise!

Hello Jo! These cakes look delicious and I hope you tried them all. After all, you can burn extra calories during the Monday walks, right?
I could have had the Black Forest cake all by myself….
Have a lovely weekend. Xx

Hi Jo! Likewise. And the offer is accepted. I’ve been absent for two weeks and may or not post for the weekly photo challenge this weekend. So don’t bother about dropping by my blog.
Good to connect with you here. Xx

Hiya Richard! How’s life? I’m so totally out of the loop I didn’t know it was Eurovision night. It will be my patriotic duty to offer loud support. Anything’s better than watching footie? 🙂 🙂 And Rafa made me sad again yesterday, but he’s getting nearer. Hooray for Leicester!

The song’s ok but the lyrics are stupid (the norm for Eurovision!) Thought Rafa might have retired by now – reckon he’ll ever win a title again? Then again, if Leicester can…
