A dusky beauty

The sun descends- is this dusk?

The sun descends- is this dusk?

I wait!

I wait!

That's the one!

Perhaps this is the one?

I’m usually homeward bound by dusk, but Paula’s theme for this week requires that I loiter.  This once, I didn’t mind.  Have a look at Thursday’ Special.  I think you’ll find that it is!

  1. It’s nice to loiter sometimes to get such lovely photos such as these. Love dusk, one of my favourite times of the year. I’ll be away this weekend with my boys Jo, so I will catch up with as normal on Monday. Have a lovely weekend…hugs and smiles… 🙂

    1. It looks so tranquil, Ann! The wind was just starting to get up and it was wild overnight so I expect the sea was lashing in yesterday evening. Thank you for your kind words 🙂

  2. Sunset is my favorite time of day. I like the word “dusk” and don’t use it very often. Your photos are wonderfully enticing. Aren’t you glad you lingered just a little bit longer? 🙂

    1. I was actually, Debbie, because I’d walked miles and was tired. I hopped into Mary Rowntree’s to wait a little longer and met some lovely friends, who gave me a lift home. All’s well that ends well 🙂 Hope things are ok with you?

    1. Thanks, Sue 🙂 Did it display properly in the Reader? I don’t normally post twice in a day but after what you said, I thought it might be a good idea.

Instagram? Oh, dear! I haven’t really got started… I think I posted one pic of a rosebud and that’s it! I’ve taken quite a few photos with the camera and rather like them but I don’t like publishing stuff ‘on the hoof’. It’s just not me! I like to think about what I’m doing and not make a clutz of myself. I’ve uploaded a couple to the laptop and used them but I can’t get the hang of processing and just ‘putting them out there’. I will have a go when I’m travelling next but I need to check photo sizes because my first shots were tall and thin, and the later ones are tiny! I think I’m a hopeless case 😦 But thanks for asking 🙂 🙂

      1. Jo what is your user name in Instagram? I have lost you in my followers. The editing tools in Instagram are really quite good so that’s where I do any processing. Once you get using it it’s actually fun. If i can be helpful let me know. Wouldn’t it be great if we could meet for tea and I could just show you? 🙂

Yes this post showed up fine in Reader.

      2. I’ll just dust off my magic carpet, Sue, and I’ll be right there! 🙂 Yes- it would be so much simpler! I don’t even remember my user name but it will be either Johanna Bradley or Restlessjo… I think 😦

    1. I did, Lynne! It was unplanned because I should have been out with the Nordic walkers but didn’t go. Later in the day the weather was fantastic (though cold) and I just couldn’t avoid being restless 🙂 🙂

    1. I’d better retire from photography now, Jill- while my good name is still intact 🙂 I’ve been quite lucky so far 🙂 🙂 Thanks, hon- have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I’m much too impatient to loiter, generally, Meg, but I suppose I had Paula’s challenge in the back of my mind. I’d done a lot of walking and was collapsed in Mary Rowntree’s, a rather nice cafe, where I just happened to meet some friends who gave me a lift home 🙂 A good result, all round 🙂

  3. OMG, you actually went out and waited for dusk for TS? I have never seen such a devotion in any challenge 🙂 I am touched Jo, and the beauty of these captures are your award. THANK YOU for this 🙂 I am humble before these views.

    1. I posted earlier today something that had been in my mind all week, Paula. But it turned into a superb day and you know I hate to be indoors. I walked too far and will be sore tomorrow I think, but it was beautiful at the beach. And I ended up at the Headland and shared a drink with a couple of friends that I had not expected to see. So it was a good day 🙂

    2. It’s nice to know we’ve been watching the same sun set each day albeit in different continents and at different times. Lovely pics Jo especially like the shot through the window 🙂

  4. I don’t think every day has a dusk … to everybody. (another crazy thought…lol) It is more of a feeling, a longing, a fleeting moment. It doesn’t linger. One doesn’t call one’s friend/partner and say “OH, look at this dusk.” It is an intimate moment shared with nature.
One shares sunsets, “OH, look at this sunset.” 🙂

      1. I came back and took another look. lol Sorry, I don’t share my intimate moments with anyone. But I did feel a nice glow, so the picture is definitely DUSK. 🙂
