At last I found number 13!
Back in April I introduced you to the Hartlepool Story Trail. It seems a long time ago and I’ve strolled on the Headland many times since then. This has been an unbelievably mild October! A little wild and windy at times but I really haven’t wanted to be indoors. So, on Tuesday, when the wind was blowing me inside out but the skies were bright, I battled the Headland again.
It’s always more sheltered beside the Town Wall and so, after a brisk walk beside the sea, I headed for relative calm. How is it that you can always find something if you’re not looking for it? There, staring me in the face, was the elusive no. 13! How many times must I have walked past it, unknowing? Or has somebody been playing tricks with me and ‘spooked’ it away? It is Halloween soon, you know.
It’s not a pretty thing, but it’s titled ‘Lifeboats Gallantry’ and on closer inspection I read that it pays tribute to the many acts of gallantry of our local lifeboat men. I’m so glad I finally found it.
Happy Six Word Saturday! I won’t be taking part next week. With any luck I’ll be at A garden fair at Estoi Palace in the Algarve on Saturday. But I’ll be taking you for another Jo’s Monday walk before I go. Don’t forget to visit Cate at Show My Face, will you? And enjoy your weekend!

I will never tire of these gorgeous coastal towns

Love the wave photo Jo! And the windows with their beachy contents (should have linked this to Dawn’s challenge). I will have a walk for you on Monday too, my last for a while possibly, though I may be able to do some whilst away (posts that is – I definitely have a few walks in mind 😀 )
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, a bit dull here, but still mild!

Hi Jude 🙂 My feet have barely touched the ground this weekend! Must be nearly time to go to the Algarve to chill a while. Hope you’re getting ready for some serious heat 🙂

I do remember the missing #13. Perhaps it was a clearer day this time? Have a wonderful trip to the Algarve. We have snow in the forecast so I am afraid my travel envy is working itself up. 🙂

Snow? The thought is enough to keep me in the Algarve indefinitely, Sue. (I wish 🙂 )

I have read that No. 13 was considered as lucky number before the Americans changed it. The number I find lucky is 23. Later on I found out that it is a lucky number in Rome where it is also a symbol of one’s bottom (I could not understand why, but this was reported to me by an inhabitant of Rome). Sorry for digressing, Jo. I could watch at your waves for hours and that sturdy town wall. Great captures, my not old mate 😀

Are you well rested, Paula? It’s been a hectic but very enjoyable day here 🙂 Our clocks go back this evening so Winter is on the doorstep (but it doesn’t feel like it). I was trying to decide if the number 23 reminded me of a bottom? Well, maybe… 🙂 🙂

😀 I am, thank you. I caught a cold or some under weather bug (you may know by now that I am a sensitive creature), but my spirits are up. It is cold outside and my being all feverish is keeping me tucked in which I quite enjoy. I have been watching Portuguese films all afternoon and cooking healthy so that I remembered only 10 minutes ago I have to post a Portuguese lesson and a b&w pic for tomorrow 😀 I advise you to check it out. I am uploading for the second time an audio file which tests oral comprehension 😀

Lucky for some, especially accident stricken sailors! I live yards away from the beach in Sussex, and it has been amazing shore-walking weather this October.

You do it with such amazing ease! I only got 30/45 for yesterday’s lesson, although I’m trying to shop at the market in Polish (in my head), now I have numbers 1-10 pretty well under my belt. Last week I had to decide whether I should buy beetroot because I didn’t know its Polish name (oddly, it didn’t feature in my vegetable lesson.)

When that sea gets very rough it’s scary, Colline. I don’t envy anyone the job but am so glad that these men were willing.
