Maybe not the best of photographs, but certainly the best of occasions.  This is just a snippet from the Polish wedding I attended in Krakow last week.  I cannot thank everybody enough for their kindness.  I had a truly wonderful time, and I think you can see, the bride and groom did too. I know you’ll join me in wishing my neice, Weronika, and her husband, Wojtek (a simpler spelling) the very best of health and happiness in their future together.

My feet have barely touched the ground since my return, and my head is still full of Polish words like ‘slub’- the wedding!  Join me on my Monday walk if you’d like a look at some of the Polish landscape.  Meantime, hello again, and don’t forget to visit Cate at Show My Face to play Six word Saturday.  I’ll be playing ‘catch up’!  See you soon.

      1. They very kindly took me out on a grey rainy day last year, knowing my wanderlust. He doesn’t speak a word of English but was happy to have me tag along with them.

They’re off to a good start, Sue, because Adam has converted the basement of his house into an apartment for them. 🙂

      2. He sounds wonderful. Anyone who gets our wandering ways must be a good person:)
I’m sure the apt will be a big help to the young couple. Hard to get started these days.

  1. Haha, love Andrew’s comment 🙂
Nice to see you back Jo – love the bride’s dress and cake, but my favourite photo has to be the chandelier – only you would take a photo of that (and me, but I wasn’t invited 😦 )
Good to see your Dad there too, he must have been well chuffed.

    1. But did you see the modest little cake I had? Well- one of them! 🙂
I loved the chandeliers, Jude. Next time I’ll try to wangle you an invite. I know there’s another wedding planned in October next year. Dad will be hoping he’s still fit enough to make it 🙂

  2. What a lovely wedding and your niece is beautiful! I like their photo of sweeping the glass – well at least he’s doing the sweeping with Weronika hands on her hips. Funny! Great pictures Jo, glad you all had a wonderful time.

    1. Thanks a lot, Eunice 🙂 Our UK version is some time in March. So far today I’ve zumba’d, caught up with a bit more washing, and there’s ironing looking at me for when I get another energy spurt 🙂

All well thanks Jo but got very behind for one reason or another (so what’s new!) and hoping to get back on track next week…famous last words, haha! Missed your walks and looking forward to Monday’s. 1. Thanks, David. 🙂 It was 22C when I left Krakow but I understand that we’ve a heatwave on the way???
This was my 4th Polish wedding and they’ve all been slightly different, but definitely full of tradition. The country ones, even more so!

    1. Eeh, I love a wedding, Paula! 🙂 And the Polish ones are so full of traditions- not to mention food and dancing. The feet have just about recovered. Many thanks, hon. Hoping you’re resting up a little and getting fit again this weekend. Hugs!

      1. What was the vivid orange stuff on your plates? I am fine Jo. I woke up all rested and now I am just stuffing myself with cold cuts; no wish to cook :D. I put loads of ibuprofen gel on my feet during my tour in England. Do you use it sometimes?

    2. We had so many courses, Paula- hard to remember! I just consulted the menu and I’m still not sure 🙂 The pork was in a lovely sauce but I think you may mean the carrot side salad, which had raisins and a nice dressing. After the initial 4 courses there was a ‘rest’, then another 2, another at 23.00 and a final one at 1.30. Not to mention the cakes, fruit and cold meat platters. All too much for an English stomach! Are your weddings similar?
I haven’t used that gel but I’ll keep an eye open for it. Glad you’ve recovered. I’ll be catching up, very slowly 🙂

      1. Just take it slowly Jo 🙂 Our weddings are quite similar ( I don’t like carrots though they look great as a garnish :D). I have noticed that wherever I go I found that portions in my country are the largest 😀 When I was a teenager travelling to France and Switzerland I was starved with what they fed me 😀

It looks like the real Polish wedding with lots of food and drinks 🙂 – I’ve been invited to a Polish wedding of our close friend in Poznan (and enjoyed it very much)..now I feel like having those delicious kabanosy 😉 Glad you to see you back again Jo, and best wishes for your niece’s new life with her hubby!

  6. You brought back some beautiful mementos with your camera – especially love the cake shot and the atmosphere of families gathering which makes each wedding special and unique. Best wishes to the couple and to you!

    1. Coffee and walnut with rich buttercream and smothered in chocolate is quite unusual for a wedding, isn’t it? There were tiny cakes (and bigger ones too) everywhere! Not that I was going to mention it. 🙂
