Reflections of Autumn

Yes, that's my shadow on the stone pillar. Careless me!

Yes, that’s my shadow on the stone pillar. Careless me!

This time of year always has me in reflective mood.  No matter how bright the sunshine, I always know that Winter is waiting, just around the corner.  But we have had the occasional sparkling day in this last week or so, and I have been determined to make the most of them.  Come stroll with me in my Durham gallery of sunshine and shadows.

And another Durham day is done.

And another Durham day has flown away.

Cee has given me the perfect opportunity this week to share a few Reflections and Shadows.  Please click on the link to see some wonderful photographs.

I’m hoping your week will have more sunshine than shadow.

  2. These are simply lovely, Jo. I love Autumn. I must admit, autumn & winter are my favorite times of year. Your pictures just made feel like brewing a pot of tea up & putting on my favorite bulky sweater 🙂

    1. Thanks, Ad! I’m waiting for my daughter to arrive from Nottingham. She hit motorway problems so is much later than expected. Sunday, early, I’m off to Barcelona 🙂

  3. Hi Jo, It’s All Saint’s day here which means no work for me today. Is it customary there to visit the graves and light candles on this day. I believe it is in Poland the same as here. Anyway, I am here to check if you are leaving on the 3rd and celebrating your b-day on the 6th or vice versa?

    1. I’m almost incoherent with excitement, Paula! I just booked a walking tour of the Gothic Centre on Monday morning 🙂 Yes, it’s the same in Poland, Portugal and Spain so I would have liked to be in Barca today. It was my original plan but my daughter arrives this afternoon. I fly out early Sunday and don’t yet have a proper plan for my birthday on tuesday. You’re right- lucky me! But today I have to clean and cook so won’t be on here much. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

      1. 🙂 It is nice to see you ovewhelmed with excitement. Say goodbye before you leave. Will you be connected while you are there? And when are you coming back to Englad?

      1. I said to my mum the other day that I was thinking we’d have a good balmy autumn until early December, a short cold snap with a bit of snow for a week or so and then a nice early spring starting at the end of February. She thought I might be being slightly overoptimistic, but you never know, eh?

    1. It has a lovely riverside location, Klaus, and if you get a sunny day like this one it will make you and the fairies happy. They could even climb up to the Cathedral roof for some lovely views. 🙂

    1. Don’t remind me- I feel like I’m being chased by the bulls right now 🙂 Too much to do before I go away. My daughter arrives tomorrow, which will be beautiful. Thank you for your kindness and support, Ventis 🙂

    1. Viv, what a kind soul you are. I spent a lovely morning strolling the riverbanks with Michael in the morning, then he came home and I met a friend who lives in Durham for lunch. It really was a beautiful day. 🙂
