Earlier this week this bridge proved rather popular, and if I find a winning formula… well, you know how it is. It was part of a five mile walk through lusciuous countryside in Swaledale. I crossed over the bridge and followed the River Swale till I found another of my favourite ways- stepping stones. Got your walking boots with you?
It was back to Reeth and the Copper Kettle Tearooms for us, but that’s another post. This is my entry for Cee’s Which Way photo challenge on week 6. Click on the crossroads to view the other entries.

How lucky you are to have such a variety of options for delightful walks around the countryside! Can’t say I particularly like the colour of the water, but I love the view 🙂

The ore in the water turns it a shiny bronze, Madhu, seen from a certain angle, of course (that is, you had to climb the hill 🙂 ) Yes, we’re very well placed for countryside or sea. We also have industry near at hand but you have to look beyond that, and I do. 🙂

I love these walks with you, but whoops, I got my feet wet on those stepping stones. 🙂

Better than hanging monkeys! Now don’t get upset- it’s a reference to Hartlepool culture. If you Google “who hung the monkey? Hartlepool” you’ll see what I mean. 🙂

Jo, what a lovely ramble through the Yorkshire Dales! When we lived in London that area was one of our favorite weekend escapes for a long ramble. Thanks for tweaking that great memory! 🙂 ~Terri

Beautiful pictures of your walk, Jo! It reminds me fondly of walks we did in the English countryside in 1999. Love that swing bridge!

It was nice to have a day out to ourselves instead of with the group of hikers, and the weather was lovely. I even got a good food shot in the tearooms- surprise! surprise! 🙂
My Lisbon book just arrived so thank you for that, and the lovely card. You were a great guest 🙂

Ohh I just love Yorkshire 🙂 I grew up there and I get so homesick sometimes. London isn’t quite the same (no rolling hills!) x

Wide open space at a premium in London, ElleRose! Greenwich and some of the parks are beautiful but rolling hills and heather have their own magic. )

So many choices…. which direction did you go? The water colour is a nice contrast though not my favourite colour for water 😀 You’ve showed us once more how inspiring bridges can be. I would like to see heather up close 🙂

From Reeth, over the swing bridge and along the river, then crossed the stone bridge (cowardly, but I’d caught my heel on a gate and didn’t want to get it wet:) ). Then back along the other shore but higher up for the views.
This link is the best I can do for heather on the moors but they’re not particularly great shots. You’ll have to do it in person. https://restlessjo.wordpress.com/2012/08/18/six-word-saturday-31/
