Six word Saturday

A week of scarecrows, and “fun”!

Castle Eden "bottle bank"?

Castle Eden “bottle bank”?

As I was updating my Six word Saturday page yesterday I realised that this is my 70th Six word Saturday post.  Amazing!  It started out as a bit of fun, and I hope it still is?  I posted my round up of the scarecrow festival in the villages on Tuesday, but I think I might just have a few more photos to share.

A "snorting good time" in Elwick

Elwick's a nice looking village with a beautifully well-kept green.

But there were some rough-looking individuals there on Sunday!

But here's a pretty lady! Missummer Madness?

A little nonchalant fishing was going on elsewhere in the village.

And a good time was being had by all.

There was even pizza for the hungry.

And Laurel and Hardy seemed to approve.

And everybody loved the caterpillar!

But everyone was agreed- they all loved the caterpillar!

  1. Hello Jo,

70 SWS ? Waoh ! Congratulations, it’s not so easy to always find something to write about and you definitely do.
Well, as far as I remember, I have never seen a Scarecrow for real, I love the fisher man and Laurel & Hardy.

    Happy SWS !!

    1. Thanks, Dianne. The villages try so hard in Summer, and then, along comes the rain. Next weekend another village has it’s fair and it sometimes includes knights and jousting, so I’ll have to take a look there too. 🙂

    1. We went to one village Sunday morning and the other on Monday, Mlissabeth. Quite a contrast in style and place, but definitely good for a laugh and a chat. 🙂

    1. We have 2 villages who compete with each other, Suze, and this is the first year I’ve made it to the second one, Castle Eden. It’s a completely different style to Elwick but both try hard. I just beam from ear to ear as I wander around. 🙂

    1. Next weekend there’s a village show at another nearby village, Eunice, and they sometimes have jousting at that one! All the fun of a British Summer! (give or take a drop of rain, naturally 🙂 )

    1. It numbers automatically each week in the url- I don’t know how or why. Never really thought about it. Doesn’t yours, Tilly? 🙂 Maybe I’m “the special one”???

  3. I love the pig crow 😀
It does look a lovely village, and all the better with fine weather.
Glad the weather held out, it would have been disastrous for all that hard work.

    1. I think there were a couple of dry hours before the judging started, Vicky. We’d made a safe getaway by then, but I’ve driven through the village a couple of times since, and they still look ok. 🙂
