A week of scarecrows, and “fun”!

Castle Eden "bottle bank"?

Castle Eden “bottle bank”?

As I was updating my Six word Saturday page yesterday I realised that this is my 70th Six word Saturday post.  Amazing!  It started out as a bit of fun, and I hope it still is?  I posted my round up of the scarecrow festival in the villages on Tuesday, but I think I might just have a few more photos to share.

A "snorting good time" in Elwick

Elwick's a nice looking village with a beautifully well-kept green.

But there were some rough-looking individuals there on Sunday!

But here's a pretty lady! Missummer Madness?

Here’s a pretty lady! Midsummer Madness? That was the theme.

A little nonchalant fishing was going on elsewhere in the village.

And a good time was being had by all.

There was even pizza for the hungry.

And Laurel and Hardy seemed to approve.

And everybody loved the caterpillar!

But everyone was agreed- they all loved the caterpillar!

  1. questo m’innamora totalmente !!!!
la leggerezza, l’ironia, la simpatia dell’espressione visiva di chi scatta e di chi si diverte a comporre manualmente con estrema fantasia

    I totally love this!!!!
the lightness, the irony, the sympathy of the Visual expression of who will and who likes to compose yourself with extreme fantasy

    1. This weekend we have another village show, sometimes with knights and jousting, but I don’t know if I’ll have time to post about it before I escape to the Algarve. I’ll try 🙂
      Grazie, cara!

  2. those scarecrows are so much fun! they remind me of the ‘old men’ effigies that are created at the end of each year and burned at midnight during ‘ano viejo’.

the scarecrows represent community spirit and positive attitudes. like flowers, i think they represent the ‘mental’ health of a community.

    1. Whenever we drive through Elwick I think how nice it must be to be part of a village, Lisa. We live on an estate at the edge of town, and people are friendly enough but it stops there. 🙂

      1. it’s hard to put down barriers when one lives in larger areas. there’s an intelligence in being guarded, where in small areas there’s the community watch, and they do watch over one another.

you surely have befriended some and are able to glimpse a bit of goodness from the strangers.

  3. This was very nice to read over. I am fairly new to the 6 Word Saturday but I would love to look back at number 100 and see all the post I made. I enjoyed this a great deal.

    1. Glad you liked it, Donetta. (what a lovely name 🙂 ) I was very new to blogging when I started doing 6WS. It seemed a nice way to meet different people and introduce my world. And it seems to have worked. 🙂
