Nine days in Poland with Dad

It almost didn’t happen because when I started to check us in online, I realised that Dad’s passport runs out on 30th April, 2013- the precise date we travel to Poland.  Thank goodness for the days of online check-in.  Otherwise, we might have been at the airport!  A swift dash to the Passport Office in Durham has rectified all, and we are good to go.

And in complete contrast, a postcard that is very special to me, and seems appropriate for this time of year.  It was given to me by my Aunt Anna, who is no longer with us.

I won’t be about next week as I’m a very low tech traveller.  In any case I will be working hard at my abysmal Polish.  Wish me luck!

  1. That alter is totally stunning WOW! I’ve just stared at those pics for a good five minutes.
Those pups in the sheep postcard look like Pyrenean pups, I’ve a bit of a soft spot for them, as I think Jasper is a Pyrenean cross.

    1. Thank you, Ruth. That’s kind. Krakow is a very beautiful city and I hope to see a little more this trip. Mostly time will be spent with family and near Dad’s old home in central Poland. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Amanda! I’m leaving him over there for a while after I come back. He’s treated like royalty over there and waited on hand and foot. Very nice when you’re 85. 🙂

  5. I thought passports were more expensive than that in the UK? Obv not. Bloody rip-off abroad ie Spain, although Gib isn’t too bad. Handy you live near Durham though. I remember travelling to London for one of mine 😦 Buen viaje.

  6. A close shave – glad you spotted it before arriving at the airport! I once got on a train from Bratislava to Austria without a passport but the security police saw the funny side and let me carry on!

    1. Thanks, Jess. I’m in my keyed up and worried stage! My Polish is rubbish and there’s loads of cooking and things to do to fill the freezer before I go. (Michael doesn’t cook!) Getting there. 🙂

    1. If you’ve got £55 it’s done within 4 hours, if you have a week, £25, Rich. Dad was lucky because he didn’t have to pay for the passport, just the Premium. The joys of getting on! 🙂
