Sunday post : Water H20

Once again it’s a privilege to take part in Jakesprinter’s weekly challenge.  As I pointed out to Jake, I’m a water sign, so this one’s irresistible.

So, I’m going to take you from the mountains to the sea, and where better to do that than Portugal?

Looking down on the River Guadiana

Rio Arade on it’s way to Silves

Cascades at Pego do Inferno

Rio Gilao at Tavira

Slipping round the coast to Isla Canela in Spain

Ria Formosa, the lagoon at Cacela Velha

Praia de Odeceixe on the west coast

Above Praia de Marinha

The stacks at Marinha

And down on Marinha beach

Barril beach, the water rushing to shore

What could be lovelier, or more essential, than water?  I can’t imagine my life without it.

Many thanks to Jake for the opportunity to share these photos.  I hope you like them, and I’d be delighted to see yours if you decide to join in.  You can view all of the entries and instructions for joining the challenge at Jakesprinter Sunday Post.  Hope to see you there.

  1. A few of your photos reminded me of my hol last year: yes I jumped off the rope swing into the bottom of the waterfall at Pego do Inferno (not bad for a forty year old!). My kids jumped right from above the waterfall (they are fearless). Also went canoeing down the river at Odeceixe, the four of us crammed onto the canoe, bit scary as it was so quiet, only cows and jumping fish to keep us company and we didn’t know where we would end up! Cath.

      1. We go up a lot to Aljezur and that area, love it! There’s some good camping spots too so you can make a short break of it. The unfortunate thing this year will be the tolls on the A22 spoiling our fun!

  2. Thanks for stopping at my blog, Jo! I enjoy Jake’s Sunday Post themes also…and was especially happy with the water one…as I am a water sign as well…Aquarius. 🙂
Your photos are AMAZING! Thank you so much for sharing them all.

      1. Lately I’m losing a little enthusiasm on writing my blog; mainly because it’s so hot outdoors (around 46 now) that I can’t get motivated to do ANYTHING! I just want to lie around and be lazy!! But I need to get back to blogging more… I feel lost when I don’t do it. You are really inspiring me to go to Portugal; a plan is gelling in my mind to go there, Spain and Morocco next year. I want to see all the Moorish influences. Did I already tell you this?? I’m getting forgetful now….. 🙂

  3. WOW! They are so beautiful places and photographs dear Joanna, especially the cascade fascinated me, with the contrast and also with the pinky flowers… Your entry is great. Thank you, have a nice weekend, with my love, nia

      1. I am ALWAYS late with my posts, and no one seems to mind. I know I’m always grateful for a little boost and a visual treat whenever the post comes.
