Hi!  I’m Jo!  Johanna when I’m feeling posh, I was always Jan to my Dad, and Joasiu to my Polish family.  A bit of a mix-up, I guess.  The one definite, however, is my restless nature.  I can’t be still for too long, unless of course it’s sunny and I’ve got a good book.  I love to travel and to explore our world.  It doesn’t have to be the big wide world- I can be ridiculously happy not too far from home, so long as I’m out there, just embracing life. I’m a North East of England lass, who loved our coastline and moorlands.  A wonderful place for walking.

The climate?  Well, that wasn’t so great, but I was lucky.  In November 2018 we made the dream come true.  We sold our UK home and moved to our place in the sun, in the unspoilt, Eastern Algarve.  We’ve owned our house in Tavira since 2004, so it wasn’t exactly an impetuous move, but it hasn’t been without its challenges.  I haven’t lost my restless nature, but we’re close to the Spanish border, so travel is on my doorstep.  I continue to drag my poor husband a-wandering, though he’s a home body really. (classic case of mismatching!)

And the rocks below.

Coastal walking near Whitby in north east England

Then there’s the Polish saga.  The family make me welcome whenever I can get there, and boy, do they know how to party!  You can follow the story on My Personal A-Z of Poland page.

Of course I still have a wish list, and it was to help me fulfil my dreams that I started to write travel guides for a venture called Simonseeks. I’d always kept a travel diary, and it was hugely satisfying both to share my experiences and make new friends with the same passion for travel. Simonseeks hit some troubles, but the writing bug never left me.  I’d become addicted to writing about my travels. So, the blog was born!  The blogging community are so supportive and encouraging.  I’ve made many new friends.  Come and be restless with me!  Why not?

I’m also quite happy to write material for others.  I’ve travelled fairly extensively, so if you can use my services at all please contact me at johanna.bradley@outlook.com.

    1. Hi Albert 🙂 🙂 Good to hear from you. I’m currently on a blogging break. A close friend died recently and I need some time away from the blog. Not sure when, or if, I will resume the walks but thanks for thinking of me.

  1. I get your restlessness! I love to explore. I love to travel. And I love to wander off the path 😊 I can’t travel as much as I would like, but in hind sight, I’ve certainly been blessed!

  2. Hi Jo. I just popped over before I go to sleep. It sounds like most of is here in England your happy with our landscape but not so happy about the climate! I am about to have look around your blog . Take care and be safe 💜

  3. I missed this page, somehow, Jo. You are such a leader in the blogging community. I’d still love to do an interview with you sometime on my blog. 🙂 I hope you are doing well.

    1. Well, I guess I have time at present, Marsha. I’m just not good at these things 🙂 🙂 Personally fine, but with all the usual life dramas around me, and restrictions in force from today for a month 😦

      1. What is the time schedule for the vaccine in your area? I think I heard on the news that for my age group, we can start receiving the vaccine on Tuesday. My main email is tchistorygal@gmail.com if you want to email me and then I’ll have your email and can email you some questions. I love the interviews because it gives me a chance to really explore each person’s website and get to know them. I’ll talk to you more by email. 🙂

      2. I believe they are focussing on health care professionals and I’m not sure what the timescale for the roll out is, Marsha. I’ll just wait to be contacted by my local health centre.. Thanks, hon 🙂 🙂

  5. I enjoyed reading this. You seem like a very interesting person with lost of adventure experiences under lock. I look forward to following you on your adventures!

  6. Nice meeting you, Jo. I tried to press “like” on this page and no luck, so I will just say I enjoy reading your About page. Your blog is interesting, fun, informative with many beautiful photos. I look forward to reading more. 🙂 Erica

  7. Hi Jo hope you’ve had a good trip to the the UK! I just stopped by your blog to see what I’d missed out on and realised you were taking a hiatus – very sensible. I have been absent a while too – finally got back into posting this weekend. Renovations still ongoing but almost there now and we have had my cousin staying from NZ. Mlle has been in Ericeira Portugal for a week now – she was booked on a surfing holiday but badly hurt her knee playing netball the week beforehand so that part of the holiday went out of the window though she has had a lovely time staying at the hostel and relaxing. It’s been hard being so far away when she has been struggling – she’ll have a lot of rehab to do back in London. She’s booked in to a sports physio on her return. Hope you’ve had a lovely time seeing your family and friends and catch up on the blog again soon xx 🙂

    1. Hiya darlin 🙂 🙂 Still here, and reading blogs for relaxation when I can, but not posting as I can’t handle the traffic. I’m close to tears this morning, wondering when I’m going to see them next, but we have another week here and then Nottingham for a few days. We’re living in a high-rise box, which I hate, in Leeds, but it was the most affordable option and reasonably convenient. We have the car today and will be driving up to Thirsk to meet some old friends and visit an Open Garden, while James and Lauren have a little time to themselves. It’s all a juggling act, isn’t it? We just want our kids to be happy (and not too far away 😦 ). Speak soon, and take care!

      1. Oh Jo I know well how hard things can be when you are overseas from loved ones 😦 Sorry I didn’t reply to this yesterday – we went straight out after I posted then back late then today has been so busy. Mlle has moved across London and her new flat isn’t really suitable for us to stay in. We therefore stayed in an Airbnb not too far from her work in Shoreditch when we saw her in May. She was able to come and stay with us there for 4 nights but that was all she could manage with her work commitments at that time of year (it’s her busiest time!). The juggling act is hard as we have other commitments with elderly relatives and my family are in Yorkshire and Monsieur’s in Somerset. Plus busy lives and commitments here in Perth and plus seeing our grandkids who are growing up fast! As you say we want our kids to be happy and hopefully not too far away but it can’t always work out like that. Hope you enjoyed your ride up to Thirsk and walking round the Open Garden. Enjoy the rest of your time with your family and take care xx 🙂 🙂

  8. Hi Jo,
For the past couple of weeks we’ve been writing about how we’re simplifying our life – and we invited you to share your thoughts on the subject. The response was wonderful! Thanks so much.

We loved reading your real-life experiences and have included them in our next post with a shout out to you and link to your blog. It will be published next Monday, July 29.

Thanks again. You made our day!
    Terri & James @ gallivance.net

    1. Hi Angelika 🙂 🙂 Nice to meet you. I already follow more blogs than I can sensibly keep up with and I’m not especially interested in food, so I’m happy to visit but not to follow. Sorry!

  9. Jo, I am a bit unclear about how the Monday Walk concept works…… you wrote this week ” Meantime you can still send your walks and I’ll catch up when I can.” and I notice others publish walks (on Monday’s) with a link back to your walk of the week .eg the lovely Buenos Aires one this week. I have been somewhat slack in writing recently (many reasons) and making a commitment to something like this may be what I need to get going again! I have tons of walks I could write about if I wasnt so lazy lol.

    1. You can post your walk any day of the week and I do appreciate a link back to either my latest walk or the Jo’s Monday walk page. You always need to leave a comment that you’ve posted a walk because the pingbacks often don’t work. It will be maybe 3 weeks till my next walk so you have plenty of time 😎💕

  10. Jo – as you are moving to the Algarve – would you be interested in joining our creative writing group – we have been writing our ‘stories’ for over three years. We are currently looking for a couple of new members – if you would like to know a little more – please contact.

    1. Hi Mary 🙂 🙂 Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to you. We’ve been without Internet for most of our stay here, and have had family visiting for a ‘big’ birthday. We’re back to the UK tomorrow to finalise our house sale but I’d be really interested to join your group when we return in a couple of weeks. Thanks a lot!

    1. Thanks a lot, Simone. I will check this out properly later and I would probably love to contribute. We are in the throes of moving to the Algarve so life is a bit hectic right now. Get back to you as soon as I can. 🙂 🙂
