What must it be like to look at a scene like this and know that you can replicate your version of heaven, with just a smidgeon of cloud here, a patch of blue there? I hovered behind him, watching the bay take shape in front of my eyes. He was oblivious. Just One Person from around the World.
Perhaps you’d like to sit a while and watch the ferry dock? For us, Ascona was but a brief stop off on our trip to Lake Maggiore, but you can linger as long as you like. Have a cappuchino- why wouldn’t you? I don’t have Becky’s knack for squaring videos, but she made me cry with hers this morning. Streisand often gets me that way. “Misty water-coloured memories…”
Yet another bright memory, but my last from the lovely Italian Lakes. Next time I’ll take you south to the Amalfi Coast.

Beautiful, as always, Jo. You have so many lovely places to share. One of my good friends takes her easel and paints wherever she wants to capture the beauty of a landscape or vista and I’m in awe of what transpires. My best artistic effort is to encourage her. 🙂

Lovely! We both finally got our shots so planning a trip to see the grandkids up in the hills, then make a bit of a trip of it. I think I’ve forgot how to pack and prepare. 😉

Photographers are artists. You still need to have the ‘eye’ for a composition, but yes, I know what you mean. I would love to be able to sketch a scene like Pauline and Jack do. Good to hear that the vaccine centre was open and you got jabbed! Any effects? OH has a slightly tender arm today, but otherwise fine.

Sitting with an ice pack on my arm but anaesthetised by wine so ok otherwise 🙂 🙂 and a lot better off than Marie in hospital or Denise, who we met tonight, whose husband died of Covid.

Another lovely memory.
I can paint but can never from a model. I admire these Artists who can replicate the stunning views even the ones who do portraits from a model. it´s another craft that I really respect.

Can’t square videos. I can’t even post them (and my taking of them isn’t too hot either). As for painting, it’s a mystery to me. I once enrolled for a course in Learning to Paint at Fishguard thinking to combine a holiday and to learn something, but after 3 days the tutor agreed that I could call it a day and concentrate on the holiday aspect. I really could not grasp anything he was trying to teach me. It was so frustrating. I visit galleries regularly and I love art, but I’m denied the access to it that I’d love to have. Nick could paint, but he could also sketch extremely well, he sculpted in wood and he did clay models – life-sized ones too which he fired in his kiln.
Your pictures are really lovely. I love how you’ve foregrounded the artist and the snow-capped mountains are just perfect For me, it’s a very satisfying picture. I’d buy that as a postcard.

I’ve never had lessons or really tried since school days. I think if I was a latent artist it would have surfaced by now but I do wish I was. It must be so satisfying. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I just had my first dose of vaccine 😁💕

Another great pic Jo and I love the video, just watched it over toast and a mug of tea. I’d love to be able to paint pictures like that guy but sadly I haven’t an artistic bone in my body. The Amalfi coast sounds good too – had four holidays there based in Minori and although I wasn’t too impressed with Sorrento I loved everywhere else so I’m looking forward to your take on it 🙂

This is lovely – and I’m going to relax later with a coffee and a video show! I’m a bit of a curmudgeon when it comes to painters doing their thing in public view. ‘Why don’t you just have a discreet sketch pad with you and then go home and paint in private without needing an adoring audience?’ is what I tend to (probably unfairly) think. I suppose it’s because that’s what I’d do.

don’t come to Winchester then – we have one chap who literally just goes out to draw the audience. He works on the same piece for days at a time so clearly doesn’t need to be there.
