For some time I’ve been thinking about a wander down Memory Lane with you, but then yesterday I was searching the chaos of my past life. I didn’t find the pink palace at Estoi that I was looking for, but I was transported back in time to a place that I love. I’m sure many of you will recognise it. The magical light on the water and the allure of the backdrop of mountains.
The photo is not mine, and I have manipulated it to fit with Becky’s Squares but I’m sure he will still be pleased to see it. A pink house for Jude, or is it terracotta? Do you know where it is?
Wonderful, Jo!

Great photo Jo but not as great as the phrase “chaos of my past life”. Think you need that on a T shirt.

Not a bad idea, Jonno. My current one says ‘no flowers without rain’ 🤣☔💕

I love everything about this photo, Jo, so your manipulation worked. 🙂 The atmosphere and the contrast between the colors in the foreground and he fog in the background are marvelous. Did your husband capture this image?

Yes, he did, Liesbet. On a long ago family holiday. He had a good camera and took all the photos, while I simply absorbed it all. But then came the blog 🙂 🙂 Nowadays he just uses his phone camera, when he can be bothered.

Italian lakes Jo? Such a beautiful photo – have been to Como and Maggiore but not Garda. My parents loved Garda – they stayed at a couple of places along the lake (Bardolino was one). I have been thinking of you this past week as I know things have been tough and meant to message which I will do very soon (just off to collect Winston the Schnoodle from his dog grooming appointment!). Does seem a bit ironic that our dog can get pampered when so many people have had to do without haircuts recently – I know we are lucky in our bubble here though it is hard to foresee when we could even think of venturing overseas. Take care xx 🙂 🙂

Thanks, darlin! Ok here but all still a bit fragile. Just going to take the washing out and we’re walking again. Sending hugs! 🙂 🙂

Hoping the walking has been helping Jo! I’m so conscious of the fact that we’ve been so busy here whereas others have not been able to do anything much for months. It’s the last week of the 2 week Easter holidays here – school goes back on Monday and we have been taking the opportunity to do some outings with the family. Also I’ve been coordinating a renovation project at our daughter’s too – just repainting and organising some new furnishings but it’s been quite full on! I didn’t do the painting myself though – was going to then realised the extent of the work was probably beyond my capabilities (and my back!). Fortunately we know a really good painter who did a fantastic job. Sending hugs to you and will be in touch again soon xx 🙂 🙂

Jo, a stunning photo and I love the contrast of the hazy backdrop of the mountains and the clear vibrant colours of the buildings by the lake. Idyllic and such harmony … hope it brings some peace to the chaos of your mind! As for sorting photos … grrr! I’ve got 30,000 plus in disorganised order! 😀

If only I’d named them properly all that time ago, life might have been simpler, Annika 🙂 🙂 And yes- sublime backdrop!

Wow! Spectacular, Jo! I would agree with the person who guessed an Italian lake — Como maybe?

I think this is an excellent time to foster bright memories. We’ve been a bit suppressed for over a year, and as the “lights turn on” again, bright memories from past experiences that once brought joy encourage us to look ahead to good times again!

I naturally thought of Lake Garda, Google helped me locate the photo in Malcesine (thanks Mr Google).

I think it’s actually further north but we did visit Malcesine I wouldn’t argue with Mr. Google 🙂 🙂

No idea where this is. Sure hope the ones who live in these houses have a backyard, although the living room view must be gorgeous! Actually came here for Monday walk … I guess not this week? Jesh

It’s a great image but one I can’t put a name to. I would imagine somewhere on the Italian lakes? Maggiore?
LikeLike
I have it labelled as Garda, Mari, at the top end, but I could well be wrong and it be Maggiore. It was scanned from a bundle of photos before we left the UK. Utter chaos 🤗💕

Without reading any of the other comments I would say that this was somewhere in the Italian lakes, but that’s just a guess. And I am happy to accept terracotta as a shade of pink. I might even have one very similar myself coming up soon. Have you booked your trip to the UK yet then? I imagine you are more than ready.

Weirdly we actually got some money back from Ryanair the other day. Highly unexpected! And no, we don’t currently have a booking. We don’t know what conditions will apply or when we will have the vaccine here. It all feels quite precarious here, but yes, I am keen to book. 🤗💕

Well that’s nice, to get a refund. As for travelling it’s all a bit up in the air. Loads of people arrived in Cornwall today, the roads were very busy when we headed out to a garden.

Many of our friends, both here and in the UK, are racing off. I don’t feel the need just yet, but we had a lovely walk today, a bit further from home. Heaps of wild orchids! 🙂 🙂 A garden walk?

A garden walk especially for you. Plus an April colour perhaps! Though I do need to do some work in my own garden while the sun is shining. There are clematis and herbs to be planted!

I certainly wish I knew it! Good luck finding the palace. It can be such a bind looking for pictures in one way, but in another you’re certain to find something else equally interesting like this. My only worry with all the brights we are sharing this month is whether we’re all going to be left with drabs and dulls 🙂

I don’t name mine either. I do take pictures of the labels if there are any. I use a mac and you can easily search by things like month or year and it will find buildings or birds or flowers. Not all of them but enough to sometimes be lucky.
