I guess I’m here just in time to wish you a happy birthday. You really went crazy, going to the dark side. Must have been all that birthday cake and (possibly???) wine. I hope it was a grand day, grey or not.
It was a kwiet day, as birthdays go, Janet, but no worse for that. π π I did my celebrating with friends the day before and had a lovely meal out. Then ‘today’ I went to lunch with Michael, skipping over a few puddles. And in the evening had video calls with both my youngsters- always a huge source of pleasure- and Lisa provided a background of fireworks. π π Spoilt, really!
Had a few storms here recently, but the sun is out again now. Just come for morning tea after working in the garden. Good to catch up with my favourite bloggers
Happy birthday. Lots of fireworks are going off outside as I write and I can only assume it’s in celebration of you! I especially love the first picture.
I was talking to my daughter not long since and could see the fireworks going off in the background, Susan. I do appreciate people making an effort π π Thanks, darlin!
I’ve talked to both my youngsters and had loads of lovely messages and a nice meal out. Sitting with dressing gown on and wine and chocs at hand. Not bad at all, despite the rain π π π Thanks, Anabel!
These are beautiful. I think one of the reasons we enjoy black and white is because we see so much color – and it photographs color can be enhanced. So in that world, black and white stand out. π … well done, Jo.
Beautiful. Perhaps because I’m old enough to remember when black and white was 1) almost all you saw (well, that from my parents’ photo albums, actually) and 2) there was so much reverence for photographers like Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson, I just love well done black-and-white photos. These are quite lovely.
I have mixed feelings about black and white in these modern times, some shots adapt well and look good, others don’t. I like the boardwalk but my favourite is the first shot, those anchors really stand out well. Oh, and Happy Birthday, I hope you’re having a lovely day π
I think you did black and white very nicely, Jo! Also I wanted to come on here to wish you Happy Birthday! It is almost midnight here in Australia so your birthday is about over here…but I guess it continues on over in your part of the world π Bless your heart for posting on your birthday. Enjoy your special day ππ π
And what an interesting dark side. I love those anchors. And it’s nice to see the beach without the distraction of a blue sky. Helps you focus on other elements. Have a fab day!

I like to capture black and white photographs once in awhile, too. Photos of limited colours and hues have their own uniqueness and it helps the viewer to focus on other aspects. Thanks for sharing and have a good day π Aiva
I do like the drama of black and white, Jo. It fits a change in seasons, I think. π
