Six word Saturday

My perspective is a little squared

My perspective is all over the place this week.  Not aided by the UK government’s position on ‘air corridors’.  For a while I was soothed by some excellent jazz.  If only it would last!  Wishing you a peaceful, happy weekend with Six Word Saturday and Becky’s Squares.

  1. I am glad that you had a bit of music to distract you from the goings-on in the world. Am sorry to read that UK’s decision on air corridors will keep family and tourism away from Portugal a little longer. The pictures of boats in the water from your aerial photograph has me dreaming of sailing there someday.

    1. We’ve just been out to the river mouth and it’s a beautiful scene out there, Lisa. Portuguese families congregate by the water and weekends and in 34C who can blame them? 😎💕💕

  2. After reading all the comments, I think I have an idea of what’s going on. Sounds like some soothing jazz and a meal at the restaurant is a great idea. Things are such a mess right now! Sending you much love and hugs. I still think they’re allowed. By the way, are you walking on Monday? Inquiring minds like mine want to know.

    1. Thanks Janet. No, I don’t really have the heart or inclination right now. Was in 2 minds about posting 6! And I still have issues with the laptop so am limited to how many photos I can include. When I get my butt in gear it should be a complete overhaul and new look. But don’t hold your breath 🤨. Sorry to confuse!

      1. I don’t mind at all, Jo. I want you to be at peace and enjoying life, not a slave to WP or your laptop! I simply want to prepare a Monday post and thought I’d check. Did the UK impose a travel ban on Portugal? I should just look it up, but it’s easier to ask you.

      2. They have accepted 50 countries into the UK without quarantine applying. Portugal isn’t one of them but Spain and France are 🤨💕

      1. Thanks very much, Jo. It’s my prayer that as we go forward, we can move towards “liberty and justice for all” as speedily as possible and heal the divisions raising their heads so starkly right now. But when people of different beliefs/opinions can’t even talk civilly, it’s an enormous problem.

I’ll have a pot of tea today in honor of our former country. 🙂 Of course, that’s an every day occurrence, but especially fitting today. I won’t dump the tea into the water…I’ll use a steeper. 🙂

  3. Jo, I’m glad the jazz could be a bit soothing! It beggars belief how decision is made on the air bridges … I thought of you when Portugal wasn’t on the list and know tourism would make all the difference to the country (though part of me would say you’re safer without us all there!) Sweden didn’t make the grade either, he ho! Happy Weekend, my friend! 🌺🤗

    1. The youngsters were already a bit anxious about making the trip this month but this just makes everything more complicated instead of being able to look forward to an all too short holiday. I’m not good company right now, Annika 🤨💕💕

  4. I am assuming by previous comments, Portugal has been exclude for travel? Sigh, this has all created such a mess 😔. Hoping you have a lovely weekend Jo and perhaps a little cake to go with that soothing jazz😘

  5. Everyone’s perspective is a little skewy right now, Jo. Confusing rules, wishy-washy restrictions and uncertainty don’t help. Figures don’t seem to mean anything, but we’re told that many different ones anyway, there’s no point looking at them.
Things will right themselves, in the meantime we must keep on keeping on.
Nice photos, by the way! 😁

  6. Sorry about the first comment, Jo. I’m still having to dictate due to wrist issues. I’m really sorry to hear about your current situation. Hopefully things will change sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, keep the faith!❤️

      1. Not really, it’s been drizzly rain here all day and supposedly no better tomorrow. I’m just writing up the last walk ready for Monday, there are several others I want to do so I’m hoping the sun returns soon.

  7. Jazz is always a good way to soothe the soul. As for travel restrictions! Australia may be on the list, but Australia is keeping its borders tightly closed. And who can blame them. Don’t fret. You never know by the end of the month things will all change!

(We’re going back to the strict days of lockdown as all the caravans and motor homes head down to the south-west. A daily walk close by, though today that will have to be accompanied by a brolly!)

      1. Well it looks like the government has passed the responsibility onto us to keep safe. I’m just a little wary of the supermarket now as the one I have been using is in a very tourist area which is why it has been so quiet so far.

    1. There are stories here of the irresponsible behaviour of British tourists who don’t think the social distancing rules apply to them. At the moment it’s easy to avoid them. I’m off to the roof with a book 🤨💕

      1. There are some of those in the supermarkets, they don’t think social distancing applies to them as they lean over people or go the wrong way around the aisles. There are a lot of selfish idiots.

  8. Great to see your jazz evening, Jo.
I’m not really watching the virus news much these days – it’s way too depressing. Many of our police have leave banned for this weekend as trouble is expected with the pubs open, and A&Es are preparing for a very busy night tonight. Could we do virtual travel, I’d do a swap with you right now. So I’ll leave you to have as restful a weekend as you can, with as positive a message as I can come up with 🙂

  9. Very squared, and very apt for today. Sending huge hugs. I can’t decide if the UK government is corrupt, incompetent or callous. Probably all three. Really hope Portugal persuades them to add you to the list, doesn’t make sense Portugal has been excluded.

    1. I’m fairly sure that corruption is a factor, Becky. Portugal has no enemies and is jumping on any cases that materialise almost instantly. To say that the Portuguese are hurt by this is an understatement. You can imagine! 💕💕

      1. It is a jaw dropping decision. You may have had a secondary outbreak around Lisboa but numbers wise you are so so low compared to us, makes no sense at all 😦 if anything it should be the other way round!

    1. No worse for me than for many others, hon. We ate at one of our favourite restaurants last night. Customers were very thin on the ground. The locals can’t afford to eat out much and they have been desperately hanging on for the tourists to come. The owner was devastated. 💕

      1. Oh dear. Let’s hope that ‘local’ tourists will make it, if nobody else. I think English tourism in England is going to be huge this year.
