Our son is 30 today. We can’t be with him but I hope he knows he is the light of our lives. We have a set of 3 of these bottles, one blue, one pink and this one, which was a gift from him. Empty now, of course, but we’ll be raising a glass to him later, by Lamplight. Happy birthday!

What a gorgeous bottle. Of course, you’d never think of throwing this away, would you? You have permission to have an extra drink or two to help him celebrate even though you are apart – but not too far apart. We are lucky to be alive in this age when families are no longer separated by oceans that took months to cross.

Happy Birthday to Him! Our younger daughter hit 30 last summer, and it feels as if, far more than at 21, that this is the point at which she seemed to me a real proper ‘grown-up’. You wait till he hits 40 though! I felt as old as the hills on my son’s 40th birthday.
