The day we went to Otley!
Didn’t we have a lovely time…
What a trip! I’m back from the UK now, adjusting to Algarve temperatures. My riverside walk in Otley was a total washout, but I couldn’t stop laughing. It coincided with a day when ‘rain stopped play’ at Headingley, and folk were queuing at bus stops dressed as sharks or Batman, or whatever else took their fancy. Totally bonkers! We spent a jolly couple of hours in the pub, and dripped home.
I had a new camera and, as you may have observed, forgot to remove the date from the shots so it is indelibly printed on my mind. Another, even wetter day, was spent in a pub in Knaresborough, again in excellent company. The British fighting spirit! On my last day my phone died. Was it the weather? I am attempting to familiarise myself with a new one…. slowly!
It wasn’t all rain and we had some wonderful times, but I have far exceeded my Six Words. Lots of stories to tell. I’ll be back on Monday. Have a great weekend and make the most of your heatwave! (in Britain)

Aller en Angleterre et ne pas avoir de pluie est quelque chose d’inconcevable 😀

Well Jo, if nothing else it must have reinforced your decision to move to the Algarve! Good for you for the cheery attitude in the face of bad weather, especially since it killed your phone! Hope you’re enjoying being back in the sunshine!

We had some lovely days too, Tina, and I really didn’t mind a splash about in puddles. Hot here, but I really daren’t complain, dare I? 🙂 🙂

I don’t mind summer rain. It’s refreshing, rather than miserable like rain from November to March.

So true! I was ready for a splash or two 🙂 🙂

What’s that saying “there’s no bad weather, only the wrong clothes.” I suspect Batman costumes fall into that category.
And there’s always the pub!! It’s been so cold and wet here I’m really missing British pubs.

Melting here this evening, Su. Rain is but a distant memory 😦 For you, Spring is just around the corner 🙂 🙂

I don’t envy you. I’m not god in heat and humidity.
We’re being told to expect a very cold Spring — something about the Antarctic version of “The Beast from the East” apparently. My poor garden 😬

Love the costumes! I didn’t know there was such a dress code for cricket. And now I have The Day We Went to Bangor in my head!

Hee hee! Sorry, Anabel 🙂 🙂 My husband is a great cricket fan. But I’ve never seen him in fancy dress 🙂

It certainly looks wet but I’m glad you were still able to smile through it – I don’t think I could. I love the painted windows, they look really nice 🙂

I was escaping 32C+ Eunice, and I joked that I didn’t want to find an English heatwave. My wish was granted 🙂 🙂

Funnily enough I don’t live that far from Otley, but I’ve never been. Now you’ve put it on my list 🙂

How very strange is life, Peter! I owe you a visit but am just getting set up on the new phone. A trial for someone of my abilities 🤔. My son is keen to walk the Chevin Trail but every time he has a weekend off it rains 😒☔ xx

Ahh, now back to the sunny Algarve. It looks like a colorful outing in Otley, despite the rain. It must have been fun to run into Elvis & company. Sorry about your phone, and nice that you have a new camera! 🙂

The camera is exactly like the old one but a newer model and I didn’t have time to read the instructions, Cathy. Story of my life! Currently doing battle with the new phone. Eek! 🤣 xx

Haha! That is so funny, Jo. I hate new gadgets because, like you, I can never be bothered to read instructions. I’d be overwhelmed by a new camera and a new phone! 🙂

Ahhh … OTLEY!😀😀 Jo, I lived here for a number of years and how dare it rain during your visit! Did you visit the Junction Inn pub? Such a pity you couldn’t enjoy The Chevin walks, glorious views of the town from the top. Glad you got some smiles around the town despite the downpour. Thank you for bringing a bit of Yorkshire and some lovely memories to me this Saturday morn! Enjoy being back in Portugal… I think today we might match you on temperatures! Hugs xx
