Six word Saturday

Where will I be next year?

It’s been a hectic week and I have so much to share, but I’m running out of time.  Next weekend our move to the Algarve begins.  Newcastle is just one of many places I’ll miss.  I visited the city for the Heritage Open Day event and the star of the show was undoubtedly Trinity House.  Photos inside were not permitted for security reasons, but you can, and should, book a tour. Former law courts, the Guildhall, were impressive too.

But who’d have thought that after all these years I’d find an area of Newcastle I really didn’t know?  I followed the Tyne out to Ouseburn, whose arty vibe and grungy, graffiti covered streets were a revelation.  Even on such a grey day, my spirits were lifted.

This may be my last ever Six Word Saturday and I’m very grateful to Debbie for indulging and entertaining me so beautifully over the years.  One thing’s for sure.  I’ll not stop exploring and following my nose.  I just can’t help myself.  🙂

Wishing you all a happy Saturday!

  1. I really do wish you well, Jo. Your move is so exciting! You’ll be so busy for a while, but in time, be sure to post often enough to take us along with you on your next adventure, won’t you? 🙂

  2. Can’t believe you’re moving next week Jo, seems to have come around so quickly. Lots to do I guess? Are you moving in one go or is it a piecemeal type of move? Exciting times.

    1. If you saw the frenzy of cupboard emptying Jonno. …😃. Answering comments is welcome relief. We are flying to the Algarve 30th September and returning 9th November, hopefully to tie up loose ends. No completion date yet so taking nothing for granted. 😕

      1. Sounds like you’ve got it all under control though Jo. I’m sure it’ll all go smoothly and calmly. If you ever need housesitters in the Algarve though ……………..

  3. G’day Jo. I’ve been off the computer for a couple of weeks, lots of exploring, photography, meeting people etc.. But just dropped in for a catch up. Seems I’ve missed quite a bit… Has your house sold? Sounds as if you are finally on your way. Best wishes to you and Mick, exciting and scary all at the same time. Good luck to you both. I’ll look forward to hearing from you when the dust settles… another week and we will be home and getting back into routine again. Loved the street art in this post.

    1. Hiya darlin! I’m digging in cupboards and stopping for respite whenever my phone pings 😃. Yes the Sold sign is up subject to survey so not home and dry yet but we’ve put on another spurt. Have a lovely time. I can still pop in from Tavira xx

    1. Boxes and more boxes! Just when you think you’re on top of things… 🙂 🙂 And of course, normal life goes on, and people say goodbyes. I hate that bit. But we’ll get there. Thanks very much 🙂

  5. I’m excited for you! It’s going to be wonderful and the opportunity to shed so much stuff is just what we need in our later years. I hope we hear from you on occasion, at least. ypou have so much to share. Some of us are just story tellers. ❤

    1. Just storytellers is more than good enough, Dawn. I’m always in awe of the time you commit to the blog. I doubt I’ll disappear entirely. Just need a little time to adjust. 🙂 🙂

  6. I’m good at chucking stuff out (moved sooooo many times) so I can pop round to help if you like! Christmas decorations to the offspring or the bin for the cheapo ones. Big pile to charity shops of books, china, ornaments. Dump for the really naff things. Remember the saying “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
    And good luck xxx

    1. Yep! Done a lot of that, Jude. 🙂 🙂 Stacks of PC games and stuff no-one uses anymore. Mick has an old rusty toy boat he’s had from being a kid. There’s a TV programme, the Repair Shop. I think it’s even beyond that! 🙂 And there’s a box of slides with the most beautiful shots of Dubrovnik but we no longer have a viewer. Took time off to watch Strictly so now I need to get cracking on comments 🙂

  7. We wish you all the best for your move to your beloved Algarve, dear Jo. It’s big step to leave England behind and to move house is rather stressful wherever you go so we send you lots of vibrating energy and fairy dust for your new home. All the best for happy times to come.

  8. And a happy Saturday to you, Jo. I like the murals, especially the ones featuring an animal. Wishing you an uneventful and not-too-emotional move! Exciting and maybe a bit sad (if that’s the word) at the same time. I guess those transitions are called bittersweet. But that Algarve sun is ever-appealing!

  10. I don’t envy you the next week, but the longer future is a different matter! Good luck with the move, Jo, and don’t think that a mere emigration is a way to escape from us all – we have our tracking methods! xx
