To be, or not to be?
This weekend finds me in London, on a blogging event with the Mercure hotel chain. They are launching a major competition based on the 6 Friends Theory. More of that to follow!
Just so that you know I haven’t been wasting my time, I popped into The Globe theatre at Bankside and did the tour. It’s a reconstruction of Shakespeare’s original Globe, and I’ve wanted to visit for years. (another tick in box!) Now I want to go back and see a play there. Maybe next trip? The exhibition space was very interesting too, though I didn’t have nearly enough time. Here’s just a glimpse!
Fortunately, I didn’t have time before the bell rang for the tour, but the lady seemed to be enjoying herself. I was disappointed with my photos of The Globe itself. With dazzling bright skies (yes, I was lucky again!) and deep shade, I struggled to get clear images, but my memories are intact. If I had longer I would love to visit the new indoor Jacobean Theatre in the complex. (one off the list, and two back on!) Sam Wanamaker’s vision and tireless energy in driving the project has finally come to fruition.
That’s it for now! It’s time for breakfast and some more sight seeing. Have a great weekend, and don’t forget to visit Cate at Show My Face to share your six words. Apologies if I don’t respond to you for a while. Home this evening!

Love that miniature theater – I want to have one!! 😀 Enjoy your weekend Jo, hope you have a wonderful time!

Back in Canada Jo. Just went for a run to stir up some endorphins. Missing paradise.
Will you be writing some posts on the hotel?

More about the event, Sue, than a hotel review, but yes 🙂 Cold today but I walked my legs off!

Living quite close, I’m able to get to plays at the Globe and it’s amazing! When you do get to one, make sure you are in the standing area armed with a bottle of wine and a pack of sandwiches!

I think your theatre pics have turned out very well. 🙂 I visited the Globe a while ago and found it very interesting, but didn’t manage to go on a tour. I did see a play though – A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was excellent.

I’d love to see a play, Elaine. I hadn’t realised it was Summer productions only but I suppose it makes sense. It was freezing in there!
Didn’t make it to the Lego exhibition but I’ve walked my feet off 🙂

Ah, I didn’t realise it was summer productions only either, but perhaps winter would just be too cold and/or wet. Shame about the Lego exhibition, but maybe you can catch it somewhere else some time. 🙂

I love the Globe and have been fortunate enough to see quite a few plays there, I even met and had a lovely conversation with Mark Rylance who was (I think) Artistic Director there many years ago – wonderful memory! Enjoy the Blogging Event, sounds exciting 🙂

I hadn’t realised they don’t perform in the winter, Tanya (except in the new indoor theatre) but it’s pretty obvious really, isn’t it? 🙂

Have you completely recovered from the stool attack? You’re obviously out and about, even if you do
seem to be resenting a blue sky!
Thanks for a Shakespearean start to a Warsaw weekend. Meeks me feel like reading Shakespeare. You’ve shot the theatre from interesting angles, and given a great sense of what it offers – if ever I should visit London.
First London and then Portugal. Is this gadding about a cure for restlessness???
