A lingering look at Glasgow windows

Looking in to those famous tea room windows

Looking in to those famous tea room windows

Well, you knew it was going to happen, didn’t you?  There was never any doubt that I’d find a few interesting windows in Glasgow. The difficulty will be knowing where to stop!  The Willow Tea Rooms were a treat for the eyes and other parts too.

Cream tea, anyone?

Cream tea, anyone?

I didn’t have time for ‘the works’ but I can vouch for the whisky and sultana slice.  I’d better do this in gallery form, or we’ll be here all day!  Just click on any photo, as usual.

I came across all kinds of architecture, as you would in a city.

But the saddest window of all?  The view from the coach, going home.

The misty rain-drenched valleys!

The misty rain-drenched valleys!

I hope you enjoyed my tour of Glasgow windows.  I’m off to see what Dawn has in her Lingering windows challenge this week.  Come join me?

  1. Did you go into Princes Square? It is one of my most favourite shopping centres. I used to go there, go up to the top level, buy a coffee and sit on the balcony by the balustrade (beautiful wrought iron work in the art nouveau style) and just admire the whole building. 🙂

    1. Oh darn! 😦 Viveka recommended that I should but it was one of the first places I spotted and I didn’t want to spend time in a shopping centre with so much else to see. That and not seeing the Kelvingrove Art Museum are regrets. And ‘House of an Art Lover’, of course. Something tells me I need to go back, Elaine 🙂

    1. It’s the first time I’d come across Forever 21, Ad. It looked good but I had no time to shop. Viveka recommended the Princes Shopping centre but I didn’t even have time to stick my nose in. (the price tags might have frightened me anyway) 🙂

  3. Some nice windows here Jo, and as you say, who can resist a tea room. Looks very inviting 🙂 I’ve really enjoyed taking this tour around Glasgow with you, I’ve seen it with completely new eyes and will never forget those murals 🙂

    1. There’s a jewellers downstairs, Viv, so I went in but couldn’t really see enough from down there. Anyway, I’d promised myself half hour sit down, out of the rain 🙂

  4. A fabulous tour through the Glaswegian streets Jo. I admire your persistence in the wet weather, I think I might have lingered longer in that tea-room 🙂

  5. I love these windows Jo. Why? Because they belong to some very beautiful buildings. And certainly more interesting than what I see everyday. The cake you show us in the tearoom window looks absolutely decadent!

    1. I never even stopped to look on the way in, Colline- I was so delighted to have found the Rennie Mackintosh tea rooms (and to get out of the rain). The architecture was every kind of fabulous! 🙂

    1. Ooh, yes- especially if you’ll have free lodgings 🙂
I didn’t spot the meringues till I came back out, but I’ll be aware next time. I hope there’s a next time because I have so much more to see.
Many thanks for stopping by 🙂

      1. Yes Jo, I’m from the land down under, how did you guess 😊? I don’t think a window tour of town would be quite as beautiful somehow.

    1. Thanks, Meg 🙂 Unbelievably we have sunshine today and almost balmy temps (19C!). I’ve been out with the Nordic walkers locally and am slumped in a heap now.
