Which way next?

IMG_7976 My stepping stones were much admired in last week’s Which Way post so I thought I’d share with you another idyllic and very English scene in the North Yorkshire village of Lealholm.  I don’t take many photos of people but this little family setting really made me smile.  Join me in the gallery.

Innocent pleasures!  It’s nice to see they’re still around.

I thought I’d take part in Cee’s Which Way Challenge again this week because it will be fortnightly from now on.  Alternate weeks will be a black and white photo challenge, and that’s a whole different ball game.

    1. It’s a nice little village, David. The stepping stones are the lure for me and Poet’s Cottage garden centre for Mick. (there’s a very nice tearooms too 🙂 ) I’ve always meant to go for the Duck Race but I expect it’d be really crowded. Thanks very much.

  1. Beautiful! This reminds me very much of somewhere I went in my youth but I can’t quite place where it is. It’s somewhere in England though, I’m sure. I must show it to my parents and see if they can remember. Thanks for reviving a memory!

    1. There are a few villages with stepping stones, Lorna, but this is one of our favourites. It has an excellent tearooms called Beck View which I was going to include a photo of but the husband said it wasn’t very good. He didn’t say that about the coffee cake. 🙂

      1. I’m sorry I haven’t read any of her books :(. We had our local children’s literature over here. Is it too late to start now? 😉

  2. What a wonderful town, as a kid I loved exploring and trekking through the countryside and creeks/rivers were always a drawcard. I hope that one day I get to explore the countryside in England, so pretty and so different to the landscape around us.

    1. Villages like Lealholm and Reeth that I pictured last week are so picturesque, Sam. Crossing the stepping stones is like going back to childhood. Hope you get to come join us sometime. 🙂

  3. stepping stones have a magical quality, not to mention the challenge of stepping across a stream with ever present possibility that one will get one’s feet wet … and standing in the middle with water flowing around … lovely series of photos thank you Jo!
