The swing bridge at Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales

The swing bridge at Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales

Earlier this week this bridge proved rather popular, and if I find a winning formula… well, you know how it is.  It was part of a five mile walk through lusciuous countryside in Swaledale.  I crossed over the bridge and followed the River Swale till I found another of my favourite ways- stepping stones.  Got your walking boots with you?

Isn't the water a wonderful colour?

It was back to Reeth and the Copper Kettle Tearooms for us, but that’s another post.  This is my entry for Cee’s Which Way photo challenge on week 6.  Click on the crossroads to view the other entries.

    1. So sorry, I didn’t check out the cakes Lorna, but the jacket potatoes were very tasty. I had a fancy for blackberry and apple crumble but there’s a homemade icecream parlour in the village too. Difficult choice 🙂

  1. What a wonderful capture of the bridge. I went to the Yorkshire moors for the first time at the end of August 2 years ago and I could hardly believe my eyes at the sight of the heather in bloom. Breathtaking.

    1. The contrast between the Yorkshire Moors and the Algarve is immense, Dina. So much to love about both. (my Norfolk family are coming to visit next week so I’ll not be down your way, sadly 🙂 )

  3. A very pleasant walk indeed, Jo. Does the bridge swing a lot? I love the rugged Yorkshire countryside. That water does look rather brown. Is it because of mineral deposits?

    1. You have to work quite hard to jiggle it much, Ad. It’s pretty solid 🙂 Yes, it’s the ore. It was glinting beautifully in the sunlight. You really have excelled yourself with our weather. Enjoy the Rhine 🙂
