With that blue, blue water and matching sky, you could be excused for thinking I’m somewhere exotic. Well, it’s a matter of definition. Seaham, on England’s north east coast, was enjoying a rare balmy day.
And it’s the start point for my venture into Cee’s Which Way photo challenge. There’s so much more I could tell you about Seaham, but I’ll save it for another day. I know Cee rather likes a sign. I almost captured this one.
I wonder where else Cee might take me. Click on the logo below or the links and we’ll go and see.

Immediately assumed this was Portugal when I saw wide stretch of blue! Gorgeous though. I will champion the British coast any day.

One of my favourite places to walk is a costal footpath. It always feels so peaceful even if the wind is wild….and feels far removed from everyday worries 🙂

Mine too, Seonaid. The beaches on this stretch around Seaham aren’t so good, but the views up and down the coast are superb. 🙂

Lovely set of photos, Jo. I’ve never heard of Seaham. The North East Coast you say, and formerly industrialised. Are we talking around the Hull area?

Quite a lot north of Hull, Izzy. Just south of Sunderland, if you’ve heard of that? If not, 15 or so miles south of Newcastle on Tyne. Thank you 🙂

You’re welcome, Amy. I just posted the follow up, which gives a fuller picture of Seaham. It’s really a success story from the mining village it once was. 🙂

Hi Sonel 🙂 It’s a real success story because it’s a former mining village and was near derelict for a long time. It’s raining again today so I’m writing a follow up post of the marina. Got to look for the silver linings.

Spoke too soon, Lorna. It’s drizzling this morning but the walkers are going somewhere I’ve not been before so I’ll have to tag along and hope for sunshine later. 🙂

It’s been improved a lot in the last few years. It was a derelict pit village but, with a lot of the north east coast, it’s been redeveloped. 🙂

It’s a former mining village that was very run down for a lot of years, Dianne. It’s developing a bit of a marina and I shall do a full walk around later. Just this challenge didn’t lend itself to that. Sunshine improves anywhere 🙂

Sorry, Rich. Normality restored with this morning’s rain. 🙂
It’s a former pit village that’s had a bit of money spent on it. Not doing too badly, except the weather. Can’t grumble after the last couple of weeks.

Blue sky and Seaham don’t often appear in the same sentence, Cathy. Glad I captured it when I did cos it’s grey and rainy again today. 🙂
Yep, that sign almost got away…. Have a good week, hon.
