I didn’t really expect to take part in Sonel’s Black and White photo challenge again this week. Then I saw the subject matter and just couldn’t resist having a little play around.
I have an awful lot of shots of my neighbourhood, so the real challenge was in finding out which ones might best convert to black and white. I find I have a preference for sepia. How about you?
Thanks again, Sonel, for getting me to look at my world a little differently. I rather like what I see. This challenge business is a little addictive, isn’t it? I’ve seen some wonderful entries already. Come with me to Sonel’s Corner and take a look. How about these for a start?

These are great and some of them would make excellent book covers 🙂

That’s a lovely comment, TBM. I’d better write a book, maybe.

Thanks, Drake. It was fairly painless converting these to sepia. I’m always taking shots of our marina and the beaches. Bit of a fixation. 🙂

I have to walk half hour or drive to get there, Paula, but it’s always worth it. Many thanks. 🙂

Thanks a lot! 🙂 I have so many shots of the sea around here, it wasn’t easy to chose, but that pier was always a dead cert.

Thanks, Dianne. It’s a really good subject for photos and the beach was wonderfully deserted that day. 🙂

These pictures lend themselves perfectly to sepia, Jo. So many different textures and light angles. I love the wild and angry sea with the clouds and I really love that last one of the pier. That one is National Geographic-worthy!! 🙂

I was quite chuffed with that shot when I first took it, in glorious colour. Almost felt like a photographer 🙂 , but it’s a wonderful subject.

These clouds look even more ominous in sepia. You rose to the challenge, Jo.

The sea leaping the pier, looks timeless, it could have been taken a 100 years ago.

I found myself wondering what I could use, and if you’re going to spend the time playing and converting them, you might as well go the whole hog? I seem to be posting lots at the moment, but I’m back in the Algarve soon so there’ll be a “natural pause”. 🙂

These are all great shots, Jo. Nothing like boats and harbors for black and white. That last shot really stands out.
