Sunday Post- New Year 2013

2012-dragon-logo-small1

It’s been a busy writing week for me (always a good thing!) so I’ve saved Jake’s Sunday Post till today.  After all, it’s New Year’s Day, so it fits the subject.  Apart from a few sore heads, I’m hoping it’s going to be a beautiful new year for you all.

What will the New Year hold for me? I’ve barely started to plan yet, but there are a few certainties. The first will be my daughter’s wedding in early February. Oh, the photos of that are going to be so much fun! Steampunk/historical- can you imagine?  And of course, I’ll be back in my beloved Tavira, and have some Polish family to visit.

In the meantime, let’s welcome the New Year.

It was bright and cheerful yesterday, as it is again today, and the camera’s just itching for some more fresh air.  Me too!

This isn’t at all the post I meant to write for Jake, but it’s how I spent the time this New Year when I wasn’t cooking, so I guess it qualifies?  I’d better hurry and post it.  Already in New Zealand it’s another day.

Please come and look at Jakesprinter’s Sunday Post with me.  He puts so much work into them.  Just click on the flying dragon or the link.

  1. Beautiful images!
I know I’ve said it before, but I’m so envious of your proximity to the sea, to be able to wander along the coast on such a beautiful day in winter must be amazing.
The nearest coast to me is over two and a half hours away….hardly a spur of the moment thing 😦

    1. I would never get there, Vicky! The husband would just shake his head. Bit like your dogs, he knows what he does and doesn’t like, and driving me endlessly isn’t one of them. Oh for the days when he was young and keen to impress! (smiles)

  2. So your start was a quiet one too? What are your plans Jo? 🙂 I mean apart from marrying your daughter, going to Tavira and hosting your Polish family :D. You are one busy lady. Sending you happy smiles ….

    1. Quite exciting when the year is still full of potential, Paula. Trouble is, my dreams far outpace the possible. But that’s what dreams are for, right? Hugs and a happy, fulfilled new year to you.

    1. As we walked round the Green I kept taking shots and couldn’t decide afterwards which one to use. You nearly got them all! They are lovely old houses, and look towards The Headland (my header photo- must change it one of these days!). On the prom, if you look in the other direction it’s all industrial, which is a shame.
Happy New Year to you, too Smidge, and the family.

  3. The light in these pictures is lovely, Jo! I love looking at the boats too, and the pompom-looking tree on the promenade. And how exciting about your daughter’s wedding! Can’t wait to hear all about your coming year! Happy new year… 🙂

    1. That anchor has sat there almost as long as the museum, Naomi, but it was only in passing today that I noticed how well it framed the museum and the masts of the Trincomalee. Thank you.

      1. Yes I’m finally home but only for a few days. I leave for Honduras on Saturday. But we are all feeling better now. It will be good! 🙂 It is cold here too so a little sunshine and soulshine will be good for me.

      1. 🙂 That’s a thought we shoveled the yard twice then the ceiling above us made a horrible cracking sound then we shoveled the whole roof off(small home BIG SNOW 😦 )
I am trying to decide how much to write and where to begin 🙂

    1. Thanks Suze. I don’t know how many times I’ve walked past that anchor, but today the shot just presented itself to me. A New Year’s gift! Hope you had a good one?

    1. Thanks, Viv. Glad you can “see” me today! WordPress collapsed on me seconds after I posted this, and I was bereft, so I know how you felt. Soon back up again though- phew!
