Monday murals

Strolling through Faro the other day admiring the storks I came upon these two, and thought at once of my friend Sami’s Monday Murals.  For those of you wondering where I’ve hidden my Monday walks, I’m in laidback mode for the summer.  I will be doing a round up of walks next Monday.  Nothing too strenuous!  Take care till then.

  1. The first one has a definite resemblance to Fidel – which makes me like it even more. Glad you are having a restful few days – enjoy them. I cut my own hair, in desperation, so I can’t go out and face the public as I made a real mess of it. I’m even refusing zoom meetings with friends! Roll on the end of this pandemic and I hope that feeling safe enough to travel will come round very soon as I’m growing restless and I need to visit family, or they me. Strange times we are living through.

    1. Oh, bless you, that’s awful! I was trimming mine, in a haphazard sort of way, but the hairdressers are open here again. 🤣 Yes, Castro – I hadn’t thought of that! We are quite social again here but I’m desperate to see the youngsters. 🤨💕

  2. The realism and expressive faces are unusual in murals, which are often more stylized or even abstract. Nice photos!

  3. These are gorgeous. I love the fisherman with his fish and the geometric figures in the background. The second one is equally lovely, especially the compass pointing the way to what I took to be hope. These are terrific finds.

  4. Love the fisherman and the geometric background. It reminds me of Allyson’s (from Algarve blog) paintings.
The second one appears to be modelled on the Discoveries Monument in Lisbon.
They are both great Joanne, thanks for contributing to Monday Murals.

  5. I love murals! We visited Faro a few years ago and had no idea there’s such an amazing street art. Have to look it up next time we are there 😊 Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day 😀 Aiva

    1. If you wander into the old side, away from the shops and the historic quarter, Aiva, there are some interesting old houses and a variety of street art. Some have been there for years. Others frequently change. 🤗💕 Catching a breeze at the beach. Have a nice day too!

  6. Great murals, I love the bright colours of the first one 🙂 I’ve been in Manchester just recently, discovering some more street art there for a future blog post. A laidback summer sounds lovely 🙂

  7. Two lovely murals, Jo. I Like the subtle use of colour in the fisherman’s face.
And the second one has a big story to tell, I think. Definitely the Discobrementos, but it seems to be telling a sadder side to the story.

  8. Out of the two, I prefer the second one, Jo… and it also reminds me of something I can’t quite place at the moment.
Have a fabulous laidback Monday – enjoy! 🙂

      1. It is definitely a sculpture of some kind. The name you mention doesn’t ring any bells but it may be that, or something similar.
