I just can’t s-top!

I always get a bit nervous when people are coming for food.  I’m not the best cook, and I certainly can’t bake!  Cakes are easy, though- I can buy them, but I do tend to overcompensate.  Can you tell?  That one still in the box makes me giggle- reminds me of a Batman mask.  No, honestly, I haven’t touched the wine yet!  But I could get a reputation…

Please, do help yourself, even if it’s just a simple biscuit.  Don’t know why I get so worried.  We’re all friends here, aren’t we?  In case you haven’t guessed, I’m joining lovely Su today, for Tea time in the blogosphere.  She’s a great cook, and a lovely hostess.   Oh, that reminds me of someone else who’s a wonderful hostess.  Mustn’t forget #SquareTops!  What’s your favourite topping?  Wishing you all a great day!

  1. Although I’m capable of baking, I often resort to purchasing desserts in case one of mine flops. And, of course, there the matter of taste — sometimes I just can’t compete with the commercial beauties from a local bakery. Wishing you all the best during this time of pandemic.

  2. I think I’d have a piece of everything Jo, they look so sinfully scrumptious 🙂 Reminds me of the early 90s when two family members were celebrating a wedding anniversary with a meal at a local restaurant – when the dessert trolley came round I was spoilt for choice so jokingly asked if I could have some of everything. The manager took me at my word and came back with a huge plate with portions of seven different desserts – and I ate the lot!! 🙂 🙂

    1. Oh, my good God, Eunice! I never get past one piece of cake 🙂 🙂 I find it hard to stop with chocolate once I start, so generally I don’t keep any in. Just the biscuits Mick lives on (covered in white chocolate- nice but I can resist 🙂 )

  3. I would love to join you, but it is still too early for cake for me. Maybe coffee and one of those delightful looking biccies? And can you please NOT send your rain to us, which apparently you are doing tomorrow. Although if it doesn’t hang around long it will save me having to water the plants.

  4. Oh yum! Anything with fruit on it is a winner. I just made a banana and raspberry cake today (my go to favourite). Mm, then anything, anything with chocolate in it can’t be ignored. They all look so good Jo. Can I be a piggie and try them all? 😜 Hugs xx

  5. All looking absolutely delicious, probably not great timing as we’re off shopping in an hour or so. The choccy biscuits are actually calling my name.

    1. I liked the title, Sue, and there are lots of toppings on the cakes. Fancy a biscuit? Or there’s still a bit of fresh pineapple I forgot to include. And surely, it’s over the Top! 🙂 🙂

  6. You are totally spoiling us Jo. I don’t know where to start, but maybe not the Batman cake — it would be a shame to spoil something so perfect and funny.

      1. Cut the top off the pineapples scoop out the pineapple, make a fruit salad, put it back into the pineapple shell, put the cut top bak on, place on the table and watch guests swoon when they see the desert 🙂

      2. 🙂 🙂 I thought it was a song for a moment, Brian! Something about coconuts? I must be going nuts! You put the lime in the coconut and shake it all together… know the one?

  8. Well, what a calorific selection! Lucky you go out walking,Jo…. I fully intended to join Su, but I haven’t been baking, and shop cakes aren’t an option here. We only have a quarter of a simnel cake left. Enjoy your feast!

    1. Totally over the top, Margaret, but I do tend to be all or nothing! The chocolate biscuits are the only thing we currently have, and an apple crumble I made yesterday. But you’d be very welcome 🙂 🙂
