Carnaval in Tavira

I know Becky will forgive me for this.  Tavira doesn’t have a full scale Carnival procession but, weather permitting, each year the schools in the area gather together for their very own celebration.  Rather more soft and cuddly than Spiky, but that sword is quite sharp.  Don’t miss the gallery today!

  1. I love to see the faces of children having a good time. They make me happy just to see their delight. What fun, and so beautifully colorful, Jo. As my grandmother used to say, and she did, “Fun time was had by all!” 🙂

    1. I think you can hire a lot of it locally, Cathy. The schools are involved in making some of the costumes (there were some very fetching blue bin liners with paper flowers stuck on 🙂 ) The teachers must have lots of patience.

      1. That’s good the costume-making can be hired out. I’m sure that is the case nowadays. I just remember when the boys were little I’d slave over the sewing machine making Dalmation or Bam-Bam costumes. I really don’t enjoy sewing! I’m sure the teachers must have lots of patience. 🙂

  2. Looks fab, not many things more exciting than dressing up when you’re a youngster. Our boys were forever dressed up as all sorts of characters. Brilliant.
