A turn of the Archimedes Screw
Sometimes everyday moments can be extraordinary. Patti shared some beautiful sights from Vancouver. I’m pushing my luck a bit but I should just make the deadline. Are you following the Lens Artists? And surely you can find Six Words for Debbie! She’s climbed all those stairs.
Happy weekend, everyone!

The bridge is impressive. Beautifully captured, Jo!

It’s a beauty, for sure, Amy. Thanks so much for your visit. 🙂 🙂

Amazing to think that something invented so many centuries ago would help to provide a modern-day facility like this. The water course looks great and I love the flow of the bridge 🙂

It’s a beautiful bridge, Eunice. Wet today so I don’t expect there’ll be many folk about. Just a few seals 🙂 🙂

I love seals, there’s a colony on a beach near where I camp in Norfolk and I very often go and sit quietly on the sand to watch them for a while 🙂

I get it, the air trail is open to the public, what fun. The science stuff is a mystery to me but the bridge is a beauty x 🙂 x

I read the science stuff, Gilly, but it never really registers. 😦 The rain has arrived and Mick has gone to the pharmacy while I make lunch. 🙂

Like Lex I read the small print and the phrase ‘fish belly gate’ stuck with me. As intriguing as these beautiful bridges themselves. I wonder if i could thread fish belly gate into my day to day conversation. 🙂

Tricky one! I shall start practising immediately, Sue 🙂 🙂

Those people would have a wonderful view from up there.

They surely would, Carol. 🙂 🙂 I sat drinking coffee and watching them.

I indulged my inner nerd and read all that small print about the screws, the tides, and the whole course. Fascinating! And I love the swoop of that Infinity Bridge.

The bridge is beautiful Lexie and it’s fun watching the rafting. Never tried it though. I’m better at watching the seals play hide and seek 😃

There’s a lot going on in a small area, Cathy. A good place for families and walkers. There are often seals to watch too. 🙂 🙂

It sounds very entertaining, Jo. You’re going to miss so much around you once you leave. Will you have a reason to return once you move – family or friends in the area, for example?

We have a few offers of people who would put us up if we do, Cathy, but quite how it will all work out remains to be seen. I do expect to be ‘homesick’ sometimes. Not so much in Winter 🙂 🙂

Maybe you’ll end up having no desire to return. Although I do often find a draw to return to places where I’ve lived for extended periods. I guess only time will tell. 🙂

Wow. And to think this is all in your “backyard!” Where are you of to next, Restless Jo??

Apologies, Patti! Jude just pointed out that I got the link wrong. It’s a bit late to change it to Amy’s as Tina will be up soon. 😦 Next stop, Algarve, at the end of September.

I wouldn’t class these as everyday moments, but extraordinary moments! You would never get me on that AirRail nor the white water course, but I’d be very happy to look for seals. You are going to miss these wonderful places around you and so are we!!

Well, Patti’s moments in Vancouver were far from everyday for me, but I can see these on a regular basis so that makes them everyday? I don’t have any real desire to try AirRail out but I love watching the rafting and crossing my lovely bridge. 🙂 🙂 And yes, I will miss them. Laptop still holding up?

The bridge is rather lovely. I guess everyday moments for me would be quite boring – cows int the field, the dairy herd heading for milking, the neighbour mowing her lawn, quarrelsome crows, tractors. Laptop not too bad now, though it has taken a couple of days of messing about to try and rectify things. Still a bit sluggish loading, but fingers crossed!!

BTW I think it was Amy’s challenge for Everyday Moments, not Patti’s. Though I don’t suppose it matters which of the ‘Lens-Artists’ you link to.

Oh heck- I think you’re right! I should change it but Tina’s is up soon and Patti may already have seen the link. 😦

I agree with Becky: what seems ordinary to one person is different/interesting/exotic to another. A big part of the fun of blogging is the opportunity to see what others see and enjoy it.
Have a wonderful weekend, Jo.

I know Robert, her husband, would be fascinated by the Barrage, Janet. 🙂 🙂 It’s only 20 minutes drive from us and we quite often enjoy a stroll along the river. Sometimes there’s white water rafting to watch and seals quite often gamble nearby. Thanks, darlin!

I hope you don’t mind me mentioning this (my English lit background coming out), but seals would gambol rather than play games of chance by gambling. 🙂 Now you have me imagining a casino full of seals. What fun!!

Indeed they would, and I don’t mind at all. 🙂 🙂 Silly because I use gambol, spelled correctly, with regard to sheep, in next Monday’s walk. Little slips like that annoy me too. 🙂 The nearest I’ve come lately is playing draughts and Cluedo with a 5 year old. His rules 😦 I lost!

We were strolling there yesterday morning and happy snapper couldn’t help herself. 🙂 🙂 It all started with a young woman setting up her camera to capture an elusive seal playing in the water. 🙂 No- I don’t think either of us got it! Happy Saturday, darlin!
