Restless? Who me? You could say that. I don’t know quite when or where it all began, nor do I know when it will end, but I hope to enjoy it while I can. It’s not as though I don’t have beautiful places to wander to.
It’s sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse. How is it that some people never have the urge to roam? (my husband being one of them) I only have to see a boat moored up to be champing at the bit. Take me with you!
Debbie set the theme Restless on her One Word Sunday challenge this week. How could I possibly not join in?

Wunderschön…

I am the same way Jo! Always restless and I too often wander if it is a blessing or a curse. 😌

Very true Jo! I’m working on it as I get so restless when I’m at home. Tough on me as my urge to wander and see and learn new things is so powerful. Yet I’ve got to be realistic too. 🙂 Make things new here too!

I’m so glad you’re restless, Jo! I get to see all sorts of beautiful places while I rest here on your wings. Keep up the great work xxxx

Thanks, sweetheart! Just having a ‘rest’ while I write my Monday walk for next week. 🙂

I’ve got the travel bug too, Jo, so I totally get it. There is always somewhere else I long to be.

It is a challenge (initially) to make those relationshps work when only half the team has an incurable case of wanderlust, but when things do come together, its a wonderful mix isn’t it?

We’ve always had more differences than similarities, Gabe, but it seems to work most of the time. Just back from a beach walk to blow the cobwebs away and now I’m settling to watch tennis. He likes to play but doesn’t watch it. I can’t hit a ball for toffee. That’s the pattern x

I hear you Jo! Overseas travel isn’t on the cards for sometime so I’m just going to have to explore closer to home 🙂

I’m sure you’ll find plenty close to home, Sam. I always have done and it’s mostly just a case of looking. I’ll look forward to seeing what you find. 🙂 🙂

Love the fact you are restless as it if wasn’t for your restlessness we wouldn’t have all of these gorgeous posts and most importantly we wouldn’t have met – sending you lots of love, shoe leather and energy xxx

And rain? 😦 😦 It’s doing it again! 🙂 Looks like a housework day- pah! Or getting ahead on a post or two, which has never been known to happen. Thanks, darlin. It’s been a joy getting to know you too.

Yup we’ve got that wet stuff down here too today and we had a day out planned 😦 so double pah. Think we might still the lunch bit though 😉

Why does that not surprise me? 🙂 🙂 We had ‘tea’ in our marina last Thursday and it was a lovely balmy afternoon to sit by the lock gates. Ah well- it’ll come again 🙂

I’ve always had the bug too, when i was in infant school I had a teacher who told us about her travels to Egypt and I was hooked. When I heard of places like Timbuctoo, I wanted to go so badly. My childhood and marriage almost made me give up hope, my ex was never interested, but I’ve been around a little bit now. At least M will go, even if it isn’t his idea.
I want to go everywhere including the places in your gorgeous photos and I hope you keep exploring as well x:-)x

Egypt was one of my early fascinations, Gilly, and I still haven’t made it there. Have to start working on him now for the Nile cruise for the 70th. 🙂 🙂 Fat chance! But I have seen some of Greece, another fascination, and Italy. Lost my heart to Italy. So what are we doing in Portugal? Fair question. Trying to make the best of what’s left to us, I suppose, each in our own way. Thank you, darlin. I wish you many happy travels.

I always wanted to travel and I am married to a woman who does, too. The only problem is she does not ever want to stay in one spot too long. I’ve been working on her, explaining how we need to have a place we can travel from and come back to occasionally, rather than always on the move. I think I’m wearing her down.

That was my philosophy in buying the Algarve house, Emilio. Another base to travel from. It works pretty well, except the husband has a strong tendency to head for the nearest beach. I have to lure him on with cake. 🙂 🙂

Cake will do it, but watch that he doesn’t get too overweight to travel.

Funny isn’t it how some of us are plagued by the wanderlust bug and others content to remain in their own little patch. My middle son is a home bird, much as we keep on encouraging him to fly to Australia (where he has a brother, friends and job opportunities)he just cannot bring himself to do it! I am looking for the perfect place to settle down after far too many moves and travelling, but I am beginning to think it doesn’t exist. The grass is always greener…
Love your photos – they ought to motivate anyone to travel 😀

We are a funny lot, Jude, and no doubt about that. 🙂 🙂 I don’t think I was designed for contentment. Some days I feel like I have the cares of the world on my shoulders, and today is one of them. Of course, it could just be the weather and the election. 😦 Anyway, it’s good to find you on here, cheering me on. I appreciate it very much.

A shame we don’t live closer Jo. I’d be more than happy to chauffeur you around and join you on the walks and explorations, as long as there weren’t too many ups and downs 😀

The urge to roam – I’ve got it too. Now that I’ve retired from work more than ever. My sense of duty has kept me stuck in a life where I could hone my abilities to perfection, but hardly ever go exploring the new and unknown. There’s a time for everything. I did have a spell of existential roaming in my forties, and now as I’m about to pass the threshold to my seventies, I feel I’m there again. Thank you for making me see it.

Jo, I know what you mean. When I was thinking of a name for my blog, I wanted something that represented the fact that we are always planning at least the next holiday, if not several in advance. And when we’re not travelling, we devour travel shows on TV. I don’t understand people who have no desire to explore beyond their own backyard. I guess we’re all different. Your last photo is gorgeous.

A topic made for you, obviously! I know how you feel – we were in Oban recently which is a busy ferry port and we both confessed we just wanted to get on one (any one!) and go. But, ho hum, SOMEBODY had work to get back to,
