Benches

Boring here without the backgammon!

Anybody seen the backgammon set?

You might have noticed I’ve got my “Greek head” on at the minute.  Something to do with sunshine, or lack of.  The above photo is one that was destined for my post A tale or two : Rhodes, but it escaped.  I rather think it must have been holding back for Ailsa’s challenge this week.

The challenges can be a lot of fun, can’t they?  With Ailsa’s permission I’m going to use this post to ask whether anyone has heard anything of Jake of Jakesprinter’s Sunday Post lately?  We all pass each other by and dash to the next challenge, but Jake has been strangely absent since his Entrance post.  He has left no hint on there of his whereabouts, and hasn’t been commenting on posts as he normally would.  Maybe he’s just busy, but I would like to be reassured if any of you know anything more?

Sorry, Ailsa, to use your post like this, but it’s been “nibbling” at me all week.  Hope you don’t mind?  There are some great bench shots over there so don’t forget to check them out.  Thanks everybody.

  1. Sorry hun, I haven’t heard from Jake either … I don’t mind his silence as long as he is ok…. Benches are very inspiring, and your collection evocative of good times .. may they return soon, very soon.

    1. That’s exactly it, Paula- it’s not knowing. The Philippines are a volatile place (where’s safe any more?). Of course, it could just be a computer problem…
Hope life’s treating you well still. 🙂

  2. I’m a big fan of benches as well Jo. In our village here on St. Simons, there’s a path that overlooks the sound and ocean, and people are allowed to donate benches as memorials to loved ones. I think that this is a wonderful idea, and I’m always happy when I see cities with a program like this. It is absolutely win-win. Nice photos. ~James

    1. Thanks, James! We have lots of clifftop benches up our north east coast of England as well, but it’s often too cool to linger. Or it’s a hold on to your hat day like today when you could get blown off! 🙂

  3. I am hoping that Jake has just got busy with work – or is maybe on holiday. I am hoping to see him back on Sunday. (Even his facebook page has been quiet).

    1. Yes, I checked Facebook too, Colline. I expect he would have said if he was going on holiday? Running the challenges must be a pain sometimes. Hope I’m not out of order in posting about it.

  4. Beautiful benches and photo’s hon and no, now that you mention it, Jake sure is a bit too quiet. Maybe he has internet problems, like we sometimes have or maybe he is on vacation. I do hope we hear from him soon. 🙂 *hugs*

    1. I hope it’s not intrusive of me. I left a message on Facebook but nothing there either.
Thanks, Sonel. I’ve been out walking with a group, making the most of Spring today.

      1. For sure not hon and I haven’t been on my personal FB much lately and I am sure he will appreciate it. I just hope he is okay. I am glad you are enjoying the Spring days. Have fun. 🙂 *hugs*

    1. Thanks Julie! Small, quiet (but probably not in Summer) with a lovely riverside location. I’m trying to think if I’ve included it in a post, if so probably the Enchantment at Almourel one. We used it as a 2 night stopover when we went to Tomar. No, I just checked- couple of pics in the Festa dos Tabuleiros, that’s all. Almourel castle is lovely but just a short visit. Good walking/kayaking thereabouts.

      1. Thanks, Jo. I picked up some leaflets about it at the tourism fair in Lisbon so I’m wondering whether to schedule a visit at some point. I’d combine it with other things but it sounds worth a look.
