Bright memories – 2

I don’t want to square this, though I could pretend it’s pink. I’m wandering back in time to Torbole, in the north of Lake Garda, and just around the shoreline from my previous image. It looks flat calm. and tailor-made for an icecream, sitting on one of those benches with a view. I’m sure we did! It was one way to keep a small boy still for a while, as we gazed at the splendour of mountain scenery. But in the afternoons a fierce wind would blow, stirring that calm to a frenzy, and the windsurfers would take to the water in droves. Remembering it still hurts my eyes, with the glare of the sun on the waves.

There will be more. It’s one from a box of photos I scanned before leaving the UK, more than 2 years ago now.

      1. Oh dear… my brain is so utterly muddled. Maybe I should just rest and recover from this awful brain fog. 😟
I could blame it on WordPress since it wouldn’t let me load the original comment!!! 😠

  1. A perfect spot for a gelato! And I can see why you wouldn’t want to square this 🙂 I too have so many old photos, mostly slides, that I would love to scan but it’s a tedious task and the results often disappointing in terms of quality.

    1. The scanned photos weren’t great, Sarah, but they have sharpened up beautifully with a little processing. I still have lots to do on a rainy day but it takes more patience than I usually have 🤔💕

    1. And such warm, happy people, Mel. Well, they were back then! Who knows with this changing world of ours, but the Italians I know here still are. ‘Ciao, bella’ and a smile, every time 🙂 🙂

  2. I’d love to be sitting there and no, I wouldn’t square it either. I’ve had a few days where what I wanted to post just wouldn’t look good if I squared it…so I didn’t. 🙂 Happy Thursday, Jo.

  3. Another lovely view and I think that this would have squared nicely by just cropping the left of the photo – a tight crop of the buildings with the mountain background, but it’s your choice. I have a box full of photos, several of my Australian trips before we went digital and those I would like to scan, but as Margaret said it is a very tedious task. I have sorted through the ones of the children for them to enjoy and there are a lot that are best suited for the bin, when I can be bothered.

    1. I did think squares but I couldn’t bear to part with the tiniest scrap of loveliness. This shot is mine, of course! 🤣 I intended to scan many more but ran out of steam quite rapidly. Before we knew it we were here and there they sit, under the bed, for a rainy day. I need to drag out my diaries too but maybe best leave well alone. 🤔💕

      1. I did think that but it’s time consuming and life here is busy again. Croquet today and then some shopping for Marie and watching Rafa at hers. Evans beat Novak, can you believe? 👀💕

      2. Monte Carlo 🙂 🙂 Started the clay court swing, before the French. Doubt I’ll see much of it because we’re collecting Marie’s sister from the airport tomorrow and I won’t want to intrude. Happier in activity but still a bit desperate about when I’ll see the young uns. So many hoops to jump through now.

      3. Yes. Can’t see me going abroad for a long while. Even trying to book a holiday here is difficult. I think we’ll wait until we have had our second jab anyway and maybe I’ll go visit G on my own for a few days.
