I had to include this one for Becky. The Military Bridge in Tavira, a ‘temporary structure’ for 29 years, is finally making way for something sleeker and more modern. From a health and safety point of view, definitely an improvement. Aesthetically speaking, time will tell…
You cranes fooled me, Jo 😂 They are good elements in a picture, fingers crossed the final result blend in well. Dublin looks good with some old and very modern bridges.

The old bridge was full of holes and no longer an asset, Dina. Interested to see how this will look. And thank you, yes, the plant is growing new shoots every day 😁🌱💕

I’ll be interested to see what the replacement looks like.

Cranes are amazing (of both sort, but in this instance, mechanical ones)!

The guys dangle from some very precarious places too, Janet. Health and safety has limited application here! 😊💕

Will be interesting to see the new version, But I do like this low profile option.

The old one had holes in so it really was ‘time to move on’ 🙂 🙂

Apparently people would prefer live cranes Cee, but I can’t oblige. 🙄Will have to make do with an emerging bridge 🤣🤣

Yes, very often. This is a major event in Tavira as the replacement bridge is quite controversial 🤭💕

It had lots of character. Maybe a bit too much! And holes 🙄💕

I agree, they do spoil the atmosphere a bit.

I thought about building cranes too 🙂 A very striking shot Jo, it leapt straight out of the screen at me 🙂

Your title made me think I was going to see birds – not this very fine industrial crane. 😀

I do seem to be misleading people today. Not intentional…. honestly 🙂 🙂 It’s a very significant moment in Tavira history.

Oh, I got really excited by your post title, but … wrong sort of cranes. Never mind, this is a striking image, and you’ve definitely got your sun back.

I did think it might build hopes instead of bridges. Sorry, Margaret! I thought Becky would be interested. 😦

Oh, and so was I. But I do love the bird variety, and I guess you see them sometimes.

They are fabulous birds, but I’ve never seen one here, Margaret. Perhaps ask Becky? 🙂 🙂

I’m surprised. We sometimes saw them flying southwards when we lived in France, so I assumed they were heading your way.

Maybe they knew I was here and might clap my hands and startle them 🙂 🙂

Hi Margaret, Jo is right they do not make it as far south as the Algarve. However if you are careful you can spot them in the Alentejo, we’ve been fortunate once as these blurry shots show https://wp.me/p4kEHo-fq1

I’m actually glad it’s happening now while there are no tourists about. Michael is fascinated by the engineering and drags me past at regular intervals. I just hope it’s going to ‘blend’. 🙂 🙂
