The star of our Spring garden
She’s a beauty, isn’t she? I can’t think of a better compliment to a blue sky. It’s turned rather chilly now, but I’ve sat beneath our Amelanchier on every possible occasion this Spring. Join Debbie with a smile and Six Words this Saturday.
Oh yes, I agree, she is beautiful. The blue skies add to it, of course, but I imagine she still looks lovely in the rain. 🙂

She’s flowered so well this year, Elaine, but the petals are now all over the lawn. A short life, but fabulous 🙂 🙂

It such a shame when the petals all fall. I often think that about pink cherry blossom – it looks so lovely on the tree but then there’s often some very windy weather and we get a fall of pink snow. 😦

I have to agree that it’s a beauty! The white flowers are so delicate, and the deep blue sky is indeed the perfect complement.

A great deal of it is strewn across the lawn right now, Lexie, but it’s clinging on. 🙂 🙂

I’d take it with us to the Algarve if I could, Ann, but it will be a nice gift to our buyers. 🙂 🙂

Gorgeous set of photos Jo – must confess I hadn’t heard of amelanchiers before so I have just looked them up and apparently they have many names including sugarplum or wild plum (so that must be where the sugar plum fairy takes her name from?). The backdrop against the blue sky is so beautiful. Just put the link for my “walk” offering onto last week’s Monday Walk comments section. No problems if it’s too late for this week just whenever and hope you have a lovely weekend! 🙂

Thanks, Rosemay. 🙂 🙂 I’m just home and still have quite a lot of my walk to write but I’m sure I’ll be able to link you up. 🙂 Have a great week!

No stress at all Jo it doesn’t matter at all if it’s held over for a week or two so please take your time to catch your breath! Sounds like you had a busy weekend – hope you have a great week too! 🙂

Amelanchier’s are the most lovely trees, they give for so much of the year. Have you ever tried the fruit?
Unless you’ve pinched all the warm I doubt you’re sitting under it today, I’m a chilly Gilly down here. happy Sunday with hugs babe 🙂

The sky really can’t make its mind up today, Pauline, but it does still look lovely. We’re off to Leeds soon, taking some things to James and hopefully time for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park this afternoon. 🙂 🙂

Yorkshire sculpture park sounds interesting. Still sunny over here but getting cooler at night. Put another blanket on last night

As Jude points out, it has a fairly short flowering season, but it’s still going strong and I can see it from where I’m sitting in the lounge. 🙂 🙂

There’s quite a lot of it all over the lawn, Jude, but we’ve ben privileged to watch the whole show this year. Often we’d have been in the Algarve. 🙂 🙂

I had to look up Amelanchier. It seems a common name is Serviceberry. (It’s drop-dead gorgeous, by the way)! I’m on a crusade to try to reduce the number of invasive species here at the new house at the edge of the forest and serviceberry is considered a native around here, so I may be searching for it in the coming months. Wouldn’t it be marvelous if it turned out to be as gorgeous as your specimen?

It does seem to have a few names, Gunta. I wish you much luck with your crusade. This one has given me many hours of pleasure. 🙂 🙂
