Along the Quayside

Funny what you can find when you dig about a bit.  Trying to reduce my oceans of photo files, I opened up a folder downloaded from my phone. Many of the photos have been retained out of sentiment.  I remember wandering in our marina one late afternoon, as the light lingered on the water.  No other camera to hand, I took the first group.

The lock gates often have their admirers, especially if there’s a huddle of canoeists passing through.  Yet again I must have been caught napping, without camera.  It’s a while since I went down to the Quayside.  I think these are custom made for this week’s Thursday’s Special.

      1. We’ve got sunshine today! We were hoping to get out but builders next door have uprooted one of our large shrubs so suspect today now going to be taken up with boundary wall and party wall stuff 😦

      7. Good news the shrub is now upright again, and all work on the boundary wall is on hold until such time their surveyor can work out how to build the wall without damaging all of our trees and shrubs!

  4. Gorgeous light on these, Jo…as for the canoeist, it must be frightening and exhilarating going through a lock. I’ve been through them in a canal boat and the gushing water comes fast and furious. Glad you found these to share and hope you’re having a lovely Sunday! 😀🌻

    1. Hi Annika 🙂 Just arrived home. Mick had a job near Thirsk and I went along for the ride. 🙂 🙂 I was back at the lock gates yesterday and there were heaps of yachts going through. It was a lovely sunny day but followed by a gloomy one, as usual. 🙂

  5. I love these beautiful photos of the water Jo – many of my photos are taken on my iPhone though I do take a camera away with me. It’s so quick and easy. Looks beautiful down by the waterside 🙂

  10. The lighting is just beautiful, Jo. Our phones are sure handy! Sometimes we are just too spontaneous to remember our cameras, but those phones are a good backup!

  14. I do the same very often – wander out without my camera – but now I’ve invested in a new small camera with a marvellous zoom, I hope to have it with me at all times. I have been downsizing now for years and think now I’ve reached the end! Nice shots, by the way.

    We humans should have a delete button as well to stop ruminating about the past, and keep only the good memories in a stick!

        Then allow me to join Jude and cheer you up too. If your mood is a bit blue now, just do like the plants; rest a bit to be ready to receive renewed energy in a while. It always comes back.
