Complicated things, people, aren’t we? How is it that I absolutely adore to be surrounded by nature, knee deep in a field of lavender, as in my last post, yet still light up at the opulence of this ultra modern shopping mall? The shapes and angles had me mesmerised.
So many textures make up a life. Don’t get me wrong – I’m no shopper! I simply popped in to Leeds’ latest shopping venue to find a loo.
Why not join me on the Weekly Photo Challenge? It’s all about Textures.
Going into the a shopping building just to use a restroom — my kind of person, haha. –J

Ha, I generally find shopping malls exhausting. But I have entered several just to check out interesting architecture. And yes, the loos are always a good reason to visit 🙂 And in some Asian countries, quick, cheap meals. This one looks particularly beautiful and perfect for the challenge.

I only had half hour between coaches, Madhu, and there it was! 🙂 🙂 Never let an opportunity go to waste.

Very glitzy! Leeds has changed so much since it was my teenage shopping venue! I rather like the Victorian Quarter, but where is this one?

Next to the bus station and the big outdoor market, Jude. It’s a bit of a monster from the outside but very elegant (and pricey 🙂 ) within. Nice loos though! I prefer the Victorian and the old arcades for character.

OK. The bus station as I remember it was near the Quarry Hill flats that were demolished in the seventies I think.

oh wow! This is lovely . . last time I was here I was too busy with my godson and his sister to notice the textures. Must rectify this later this month when we nip up for a brief visit 🙂

It looks awful from outside and I do prefer the Victorian arcades but I only had half hour and the loos were nice xx

Hee hee . . .I remember when that corner of town was ugly outside and in! So I much prefer it now, I agree with you though the Victorian Quarter is much much nicer. 🙂

Goodness, it’s a bit empty, was it early in the morning? I don’t enjoy shopping anymore, but can appreciate the designs of these big malls. How are you my lovely? Nina and the small people have been here for a couple of days, so I’ve had a fab time x:-)x

That’s nice to hear, Gilly. 🙂 🙂 I’m fine, thanks. It must have been about half one because I was on the way to Lisa’s and the coach stopped at Leeds for half hour. Prices probably keep the numbers down. 🙂

I loved your link between ‘being complicated’ and the textures of life, Jo! 🙂 We can find beauty in the strangest of places — if we want to. I do tip towards nature’s green spaces, but those ginormous metallic exhibits look equally appealing. And to think it was all in search for a loo! 🙂 Looks like I’ve missed quite a few of your posts.

I loved this post, Jo. We integrate all the elements of our life; and even when you’re a hiker and outdoor explorer, the textures and shapes of a shopping mall attract you, on your way to the loo. Cheers!

What a fascinating place. Everywhere you look it ‘s like another art piece. The designer and architect must have had such fun in their roles of bringing this together.

Ultra textured. Most malls don’t age well. I wonder if this one will. Next time may we have a photo of the loo, please? They are a highly neglected space!

It has been known for me to take loo photos, Ann, but they do have to be special. This was dark and very sleek 🙂 🙂

I can see why this opulent mall would fascinate, Jo. I am never more at home than when I’m in a beautiful natural environment, but I can still find my head turned by something beautiful and a bit unique. I’ll bet the loo was a work of art as well! 🙂
