The textures of life

Complicated things, people, aren’t we?  How is it that I absolutely adore to be surrounded by nature, knee deep in a field of lavender, as in my last post, yet still light up at the opulence of this ultra modern shopping mall?  The shapes and angles had me mesmerised.

So many textures make up a life.  Don’t get me wrong – I’m no shopper!  I simply popped in to Leeds’ latest shopping venue to find a loo.

Why not join me on the Weekly Photo Challenge?  It’s all about Textures.

  1. Ha, I generally find shopping malls exhausting. But I have entered several just to check out interesting architecture. And yes, the loos are always a good reason to visit 🙂 And in some Asian countries, quick, cheap meals. This one looks particularly beautiful and perfect for the challenge.

    1. Next to the bus station and the big outdoor market, Jude. It’s a bit of a monster from the outside but very elegant (and pricey 🙂 ) within. Nice loos though! I prefer the Victorian and the old arcades for character.

  2. oh wow! This is lovely . . last time I was here I was too busy with my godson and his sister to notice the textures. Must rectify this later this month when we nip up for a brief visit 🙂

      1. Hee hee . . .I remember when that corner of town was ugly outside and in! So I much prefer it now, I agree with you though the Victorian Quarter is much much nicer. 🙂

  3. Goodness, it’s a bit empty, was it early in the morning? I don’t enjoy shopping anymore, but can appreciate the designs of these big malls. How are you my lovely? Nina and the small people have been here for a couple of days, so I’ve had a fab time x:-)x

    1. That’s nice to hear, Gilly. 🙂 🙂 I’m fine, thanks. It must have been about half one because I was on the way to Lisa’s and the coach stopped at Leeds for half hour. Prices probably keep the numbers down. 🙂

  4. I loved your link between ‘being complicated’ and the textures of life, Jo! 🙂 We can find beauty in the strangest of places — if we want to. I do tip towards nature’s green spaces, but those ginormous metallic exhibits look equally appealing. And to think it was all in search for a loo! 🙂 Looks like I’ve missed quite a few of your posts.

  5. I loved this post, Jo. We integrate all the elements of our life; and even when you’re a hiker and outdoor explorer, the textures and shapes of a shopping mall attract you, on your way to the loo. Cheers!

  6. What a fascinating place. Everywhere you look it ‘s like another art piece. The designer and architect must have had such fun in their roles of bringing this together.

  7. I can see why this opulent mall would fascinate, Jo. I am never more at home than when I’m in a beautiful natural environment, but I can still find my head turned by something beautiful and a bit unique. I’ll bet the loo was a work of art as well! 🙂

  8. You find beauty in the most unexpected ways and places, Jo! I’m glad you had the need of a loo, so we get to enjoy the decor as well. 🙂 One attractive thing shopping malls do have generally, is clean bathrooms.
