Six word Saturday

Saying goodbye to a dear friend

My lovely friend, Christine

My lovely friend, Christine

Many times I have used Six word Saturday to convey a message.  My ‘six words’ are often smiled at indulgently.  Poetic license, I call it!  This week, there have been more tears than smiles.  The image of Christine smiling among the lotus plants is one that I hope to remember (and thanks Madhu for reminding me).

The news of her sudden death has reverberated across the blogging world, and made us reach out to one another and ‘hold hands’. It’s a lovely legacy, isn’t it?

I wanted to share with you Stuart’s comment on my tribute to Christine earlier this week.

Hello,

This is Stuart.

One day I may be able to tell all about our last amazing day.
I have just spoken with one of our beautiful yoga friends and blasted her with all the details. She said ‘That was a conscious death’.
I can’t quite grasp that yet but maybe someday.

The funeral is next Wednesday at 11 30 our time (at Broulee Chapel and Crematorium).
I have got a plain casket that I am going to paint with red lotuses.

Thank you her beloved blogging friends.
Maybe there is some way we can include you.
One of our clever sons will know.

Toby (middle son) has researched how you can get access to the book which has the first 4 months of her blog in it. She spent a month redoing all the images and text. it is pretty special.
It will appear either on her blog or facebook or both I think.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and heartfelt messages.
It really really helps
Love to you all

Stuart

What a lovely family they are, aren’t they?  I had hoped to be online and thinking about Christine at the time of the funeral.  Sadly I miscalculated the time and it will be 2.30 Wednesday morning in the UK, so that may not be feasible.

Have a beautiful weekend, my friends.  I will be spending time with all of you.  And Cate, of course, at Show My Face.

  1. I’m just getting over here to you on Monday Jo, as I usually do, and of course we have caught up over at my place in the meantime. What a beautiful tribute, as you know I didn’t know Christine but I can see what a shining light she was to all her blogger friends as well as to her husband (what a dear man!) and her family. Holding hands with you my friend, from south to north and back again… ❤ x

  2. A lovely post in honor of Christine, Jo. It’s so sad to lose a dear blogging friend and a wonderful lady. I love that Stuart will have her casket painted in red lotuses. That’s a cheery place for Christine to rest in peace. xxx

    1. I didn’t really intend this for 6WS, Cathy, but Stuart has been trying so hard to respond to us all. I’m full of admiration for him, and the family. I had intended to be online at the time of the funeral but I doubt I’ll make 2.30 in the morning.
I am going to obtain the book of Christine’s blog when it comes out. I’ve been back on the blog since she died and it’s sad not having her talk back. I will be featuring her walk to Glastonbury Tor tomorrow, which she sent me last week. How strange will that be! Take care, hon. Good weekend?

      1. Oh, I’ll have to check out Christine’s Glastonbury Tor walk, Jo. It’s really sad when a blog goes quiet because the person is no longer there. It’s very surreal, isn’t it? What’s so sad is that she was perfectly healthy last week to send you that walk, but now suddenly she’s gone.

My weekend was filled with mother-in-law’s declining health and moving home under the care of hospice. It’s been a rough week. xxx

    1. She really was, Sonel. We’ve all lost out in losing Christine, but for her family it’s tragic.
Thanks for commenting, hon. I hope you’re fit and well again now? 🙂

      1. Unfortunately that’s always the case with the loss of good people Jo and you’re welcome hon. I am doing fine thanks. Life is too short to sit and worry about silly people. 😀 ♥ Hugs ♥

    1. I am putting together my Monday walk for tomorrow and relaxing before everybody gets up, Nia. It will include a walk of Christine’s, and it seems almost unbelievable to me that she is gone.
      Happy Sunday to you! 🙂

    1. They have been magnificent, Paula, Stuart was on the blog again yesterday with another update and saying he was trying to get around all the blogs to say thank you.

Are you holding on? Not too long to go to that lovely holiday of yours! I checked earlier and you hadn’t posted again, but I guess you have now. I’ll come look 🙂

      1. Hi Jo, there wasn’t weekly photo challenge this week – I guess cause of the 4th of July. My Sunday post is coming up in less than an hour. This year has been very strange and I don’t know if I will be able to enjoy holidays.

      2. Ah, I wondered because I didn’t see any when I looked in the Reader tonight.
Once you get into that mountain air and the wondrous scenery I hope it will all float away, Paula. That’s what holidays are for- to refresh and renew. I hope so, anyway 🙂

    1. Oh, Jo- I’m sorry! I visited yours not long since and noted that you hadn’t posted again since your Christine post.
There will be one more reference to her on Monday because she sent me a walk to Glastonbury Tor. It’s hard to believe she’s gone, isn’t it, but then visiting her blog feels unnatural now that she’s not there to answer.
Hugs, Jo! Isn’t Stuart being brave?

      1. Don’t be sorry Jo. They were good tears really. Thankful tears that I had a chance to connect with her on some level. Stuart is so amazing. That he continues to take the time to reach out to us out here blows my mind. I just haven’t had a lot to say…blogging wise. Who would have thought. My daughter is on my mind a lot.

      2. I guess I almost expected her to reply to my post on her…silly isn’t it ?? I like to think she is Jo. I am so not sure what happens when we do go, but I feel a soul like Christine’s is out there forever. She is still a part of our universe.

      3. Yes, she undoubtedly is that star in the sky that Dallas commented on, Jo. 🙂
We’re a little at cross purposes. I meant missing your daughter. Is she ok?

      4. Yea. Well today probably not so much as she had her wisdom teeth out on Thursday. She is leaving NZ soon. Off to Switzerland to live and work. Thrilled as I am for her…it is starting to sink in that it may be a while before I see her again.

      5. I imagine so. I am really not looking forward to the 10th of August. But that said…I am happy for her. I usually drag on my happy face when we talk about it. Thank goodness for Skype.

  4. Thank you so much for sharing Stuart’s message here, Jo. The photo of Christine amongst lotus plants, is so lovely. She has such a serene and untroubled look about her. I’m so sad that she won’t be around for us any longer, but even more sad for Stuart and the family who obviously adored her.

    1. He was on her blog again yesterday, Ad, saying he was trying to get round all the people who’d left messages. I know how impossible that is because I’m still playing ‘catch up’ from my tribute post 🙂

  5. Dear Jo, it’s four weeks ago today that I picked Christine and Stuart up and we went to Dartmoor. I’ve tried hard to smile about the memories but it’s too raw and the tears won’t stay away for long. I can tell that you love her just as much as I do, big hugs.

    1. Too soon to start cherishing memories, Gilly. It’s all loss right now. I was looking at some of her old posts but it’s not the same without Christine’s presence.
Take care, hon. 🙂 Pin that smile back on.
